Default 375/20/21 Tire...Whoa!

It's not my car. I think the car has a 13.5" rear rim. It's a 295/20 front and 375/21 rear.

Those are some WIDE tires on the rear! Do you think having a tire that wide and big could be of benefit on the track or is that simply too much rotational mass, tire, bling, ect to be of use for the track?

PS I checked and tire rack has them for sale

I don't know, but I'm running 13" wide CCW's on the rear with stock GY 325/30-19 tires.
According to GY, I'm within the allowable range of rim for that tire.
I think the fact that it's a 21" diameter wheel, it's not as wide as say a 375 on a 19 wheel, if it exists.

Btw, that sidewall looks way too stretched outward in the last pic.

Yeah I have a 335 on an 18X13...they don't make 345's for 18's, You have to go to a 19 to get a 345. I've never seen anything bigger than a 345 until now. That's one huge tire! Their actually not to expensive at tire rack either.

That's because it's on a 13.5" rim I think. If it was on a 13" it would probably be a lot better.

Good choice, if I would of known then what I know now, I would have gone 18's front and rear, and made up the 1" difference in height to prevent any DIC messages.

19's would have been a better choice for street tires because it has everything that 18's have plus a few more choices and you can get them in 335 or 345's.

I went with 18's because I can still get 335's BUT I can also get non-DOT race tires. I talked with a scrub dealer and he said that 19's are banned so all the teams run 18's and that he didn't think there would be any NON-DOT race tires coming out anytime soon or that they would change the rule and I wanted the ability to run a Michelin or some other non-DOT so I went with a 18.

I think 19's might be the way to go for a wide tire though. Porsche, Vette, and Viper are all switching to 19's on the rear. I think tire manufacturers are going to stick with 19's for making wide tires because of that. Michelin used to make a 345/18 but dropped it.

Exactly how do you figure rim diameter effects how tire section width and rim width match up? Diameter is entirely independent of tire (section) width and rim width.

That makes no sense. 375mm is 14.75" (approx) ... 375mm shouldn't be stretched on a 13.5" rim...

Sectional width varies, a 345 on a 19" and a 345 on a 21" is not going to be the same width.

Thats not a tire - it's a rubber band !! If the driver ever hits a pot hole, they can kiss the tire and rim goodbye ----

And all your examples show the actual width as greater than the 245mm listed width -- which is 9.65in. :-) Which goes back to 375mm is 14.75in and shouldn't appear stretched on a 13.5" rim.

So, I think the 375mm is a lie... the PZero Nero says 375/20/21 is actually 13.1in tread width, Tire Rack doesn't list a section width. The Ecsta SPT 375/20/21 says 15.4in section width (and they recommend a 14in wide wheel) so the tread width is probably closer to 375mm.

Wrong, Hoosier is not an OEM tire supplier.

That reminds me I saw a 2000+ monte carlo the other day that had 21" or 22" wheels with very low sidewall tires on it. He must have hit a pot hole or something. He had a donut on the front left, and the left rear was obviously bent. The left rear was also smoking going down the highway!
