Polish/blast the control arms for looks? Results!
Before you get all over me I am not going waxer/show car. I just figured since I have a spare set off the car I would try making them look nice. Too much time on my hands.
They do end up pretty bad looking after a lot of miles.
The FRONT UCA seems to have been made to a smoother finish then the others & is easy to shine up.
All the others are more rough cast so pick up dirt/oil/road grime & it stays there.
I have tried green scrub pads, sandpaper, alum polish, and brass (wire) wheels (which seemed the best so far).
It's difficult to get a uniform finish.
Have not done any media blasting yet.
I have used various acids/chemical cleaners none of those really shined them up much.
Anyone ever try this with some good results?

I used brown scotch pads soaked with mag wheel cleaner ( use rubber gloves). Looked pretty nice to me. If you are really bored you could follow up with alum polish.

Actually by sanding out the casing lines and bumps, you are relieving any possible stress fracture points and strengthening the arm by polishing it.

I figured out a way to do it pretty easy & nice result.
I will post some pics tomorrow when the light is good for a pic.
Cost $10 and about 10-15 minutes an arm.
Those are rear UCA's that originally looked pretty much like the front LCA on the left.
