DOT R Componds, Which Ones????
Since I drive my car to and from the Track, I'm thinking I should go with DOT R tires. I'm looking at the Nitto NT01s or BF Goodrich G-Force R1s... Does anyone have any imput on them or a different tire???
Thank you.
Thank you.

I've used both the NT01's and Nitto 555RII's - driven them to-from track events. The 555 is a little more streetable, more aggressive tread. I use to be really high on them, not as much anymore. They stick well and work in a variety of conditions. They howl before letting go so you know when you are at the limit, very predictable. If pushed hard they will start go south at about the 20 min mark. Worlds better than any real street tire but nowadays I prefer to trailer my track tires to events and run true stickies.

Toyo RA1s or R888s are an alternative to Nitto NT01s, and 555RIIs for DOT-Rs that you can drive on the street to/from events. I don't personally care for the road noise of the R888s, but they perform nicely on track with the right care & feeding.
None of these would compete with a 'real' DOT-R such as a Hoosier, though...

Thanx guys, I really appreciate the inputs!
As you assumed I will have dedicated wheels for the track so the will only be driven on the street to and from the track on dry days. On rain days I'll use my street setup with Hankook V12s...
No one has any experience with the BFG R1s huh? I was kinding leaning towards them...

I have Nitto NT555 RIIs on my C5Z that I drive to/from and on the track. They do howl when you approach the limit. At my experience level (Intermediate DE) I like the feedback and they stick pretty well.

I would be nervous driving any distance to/from events with Hoosiers or BFG R1s or some of the other lightweight DOT-Rs because of the effects of heat cycling, the lack of resistance to punctures, and just plain because of the accelerated wear.
That said, way back when I ran the original BFG R1s and Yokohama A008RSIIs on the street and never got bit by it (outside of rain)...

Just remember....The manufacture uses DOT type construction for sactioning purposes.
Most of the DOT racing tires are NOT street legal and say so right on the sidewall.
Check out the A6's and look at Hoosiers website.
I also agree with GK, Not worth the heat cycles. Tires are too expensive to waste three or four heat cycles driving to the track.
Get a small tow behind trailer. I did it for years and so have many others. Can't even tell it's behind you.

I understand, but for $50 a piece I'll burn these just to get a feel for them on the Track if nothing else...
Eventually I'll migrate to the trailer I'm sure! Where in the heck do you bolt the hitch????
