It's time to retire the C7's as it's apparent they really can't run with the Ford GT's or the Porsche's. When the time came, both the Ford and the Porsche turned on the power and just ran away from the 3 car, and this isn't the first time. C7R ran a damned good race and they should be proud of their effort, but they are running a car design that is ancient compared to the others. Another massive hindrance is that all the other teams run WEC and so they have far more data on their cars than the Vettes do. With FORD dropping the GT program at the end of this year, will GTLM even be around and when the hell will GM open up the Corvettes to allow other teams to run?

Rockenfeller's stint really knocked us off the top 2, once Mags got out of the car we just went backwards. Thankfully Garcia worked out a podium.
Porsche had nothing all day but they must have had a setup for the cooler night temps because they took off then.

It would be quite interesting to open up the GTLM series, give them fuel tank size limits, then let the teams figure out what to do. Oh wait, they did that, back in the C5 era with the GTS class. Everyone left but Chevy.
So, do you want to race at all? Then politics determines the race.
Have a good one,
Mike

Anyone catch Paul Tracy talking about the upcoming C8 and its rear-engine design?

Last year it was the Fords that had the clear advantage. It's more likely just going to rotate between whoever can run the numbers the best - except Corvette, because they're not going to give any handouts to a team on its 3rd consecutive championship now. We'll see next year when the C8 is introduced whether that changes.

Has anyone gone to IMSA's race at Road America in the past and gone to the Corvette Corral? I'll be flying in from Texas and I try to go to the Corvette Corrals of each track (when Corvette has one), specifically the hospitality tent. This will be my first time at Road America, upon looking at Road Americas website I did not see anything about a corral and when I called the track they said they did not know anything about whether or not a corral would happen. IMSA's site just redirects you to RA's site. Anyone know if/how to get Corvette Corral tickets? Maybe it's too early?

Scott Pruett did not break both legs by crashing into a barrier at Sebring. It happened during a test at the
Fair Grounds circuit in W Palm Beach, FL
At one point Tracy was going on and on about how the #96 BMW (GTD) was going to be a real contender for the win --
too bad he hadn't noticed the car had been in the pits having a part of its front suspension replaced.
There were several others --

Here's a few more examples of his misreporting -

To be fair, Tracy was never known as a genius during his racing career.

Long Beach bop is out with Porsche 10kg lighter and Ford gets a little less boost. Both lose a little fuel capacity to go with it.
I thought this last round as well, but it's really hard to see anything than Porsche being eavy favorites.
Caddys slowed in Dpi with Nissan and Acuras given breaks.

I'd like to see the logic why the Porsche gets a 10kg weight break.. its been really quick so far this season.

IMSA's BoP has been really good lately. But this is a head scratcher. Even more confusing than the Porsche getting a break is the DPI Acura getting a break. They qualified 1st and 3rd at Sebring. They sucked in the rain, but it's silly to BoP a Southern California race (where it is almost guaranteed to not rain) based upon results of the previous race in the rain. The Acura's got a 20kg break AND more boost. If Vegas took IMSA race results bets, I'd probably place some....
