Default Accusump vs drysump

Hi Guys,

is the Accusump enough on the race track with slicks or semi slicks and a perfect chassis suspension?
I`m a little bit nervous on long curves at the race track. Is there somebody who has a strong C5 with much experience accusump and race track?

Who would sell a drysump kit for a C5

Thanks

steve

I ran an accusump in a autocross car about 100 years ago. A dry sump system gives you far more security and will add a little HP but some good throttle response. They are a lot more expensive but they work and you don't have to worry running the high banks of Daytona, Charlotte, Rockingham, Texas World Speedway, etc. I recommend a dry sump for every road race car.

Does there exist a kit for a LS2 engine? You have a price?
I have a LS2 402 stroker with a YSI V7 and a flip drive kit.
I don`t use the AC, so i have a bracket with a pulley instead of it.
Also my battery is in the back.
But where to plug the drysump with a flip drive kit?
Do you have picts for me?

Accusump also gives your pre-lube.....very helpful in long term durability for non hardcore racers (ie you don't freshen you engine twice a year anyway)

I`m not a hardcore racer but i want to be safe with the car. The problem is the flip drive kit for my blower. What would be with two accusumps, would it help more and does it work with two?

I use the C5 Oil pan with the LS2.

search this "forum dry sump cost" tons of threads are there. Cost I see is 3,000 to 8,000. Parts only parts and labor many threads. Money no object get a dry sump. I am sure LGM could make up a kit for you.

I used a kit from Aviaid:

http://aviaid.com/chevy-ls-series.html

It is by no means a simple bolt on and requires a significant amount of engineering.

Here's a few things I ran into:
  • Air conditioning compressor had to be removed
  • Passenger side motor mount bracket had to be tweaked to clear pump
  • Custom solid motor mounts to provide clearance for plumbing
  • Oil tank mounted in stock battery position via custom bracket
  • Filter mounted to front of passenger head via custom bracket
  • LOTS of custom plumbing required

I just installed an Accusump in my 2008 575 hp C6 last week and ran at Thunderhill yesterday with no issues. I'm not a hardcore racer yet will do 10 to 15 HPDE per year. Just a word of warning pertaining to costs.

The initial parts were approximately $500. However, the additional plumbing necessary to properly install the tank in the fender and move the guages and catch can (optional) to the engine compartment was another $800. Throw in another $1000 to set it up proberly and you are pushing $2,500.

Considering the $12,000 I spent to install a new engine last year it was a small price to pay for peace of mind. Both my daughter and I ran a total of 7 sessions in ninety degree weather with pfadt coilovers and new Goodyear RF racing tires. Only once on the last lap of the day at the end of the extreme left hand turn # 2 did I see my my oil pressure momentarily drop to 28 lbs.

Anyone interested in the install pictures and my mechanics info please sent me a PM.
