Default Newbie needs wheel/tire combo advice

Hey guys, I'm just getting into track events and I'm shopping for a spare set of wheels. I have a lead on C5 18x9.5 wagon wheels (set of 4) for a great price. My question is will having the same rims on all four corners present any problems with active handling, ABS or traction control? I plan on running in Comp mode for a while until I am more comfortable.

I want to make sure that these wheels will work on an 05 base C6 with Z51 package. Also, what size track tire will fit those rime and not present and challenges to the electronic nannies? I would like to focus on some of the scrubs that come up for sale here.

Any thoughts or advice?

Sean

If your running square, you will need to shut everything off. Comp mode will complain. About a 1" difference on stock sizes between front and rear. On stock size wheels you can go with a 265/35x18 and 305/30x19 and comp mode will be okay. That will keep you close to that 1" difference

But 19" rears are $xpensive and hard to find scrubs

Some run 18" all around but different diameters between front and rear. Better opportunity to find scrubs

Thats going to limit you on tire size to a 275/35-18 or thereabouts.

Forget the 18 x 9.5 inch wheels.

Find a set of C5 18 x 10.5 rear wheels. Then you can mount the tire sizes you need.

Will that combo still allow traction control and active handling? I guess I should do more research and stop being lazy....

Thanks for the input.

You could mount the following tires on those rims:

Hoosier A6 or R6 285/30R18 front at 24.9 inches in diameter

Hoosier A6 or R6 315/30R18 rear at 25.6 inches in diameter

No Active Handling or Traction Control problems.

If you are running brake cooling ducts with hoses, you may have an issue with the 285s on the front.

Just saying.....

Good info. Yes, I just put on brake cooling ducts a few weeks ago - good thought.

Thanks for the heads up.
