Motor goes boom replace with LS1.... then the Viper won't sound so bad

The real problem is the cost of the hood... not sure what they go for these days, but they used to list for $16k.

How much for a competitive replacement motor/rebuild, $20-25K????? I would imagine parts are twice the cost we are spending now for the Vettes.
Glad you guys started going thru real world scenarios. I was kind of thinking about pulling trigger on this and giving my Z a rest for year. It seems like such a good deal, surely you could get almost all your money back out of it in a year. But now, it seems more risky. But still . . . .

That car costs over six-figures to build and the Viper's V10 is extremely robust. I have a local buddy who has two of them both race cars and they've been beat on for nearly 10 years. Neither has had the motor gone into for anything other than one has a set of Stryker heads.

He recently bought the silver one from one of our mutual friends and got a screamin' deal at mid $40s. Sub $30k is just crazy...

He doesn't even take very good care of them... does most of his maintenance at the track

reman viper engine 8k.

Remember they threw these engines in the srt10 pickup truck, so there are a lot of them floating around. Used engines shouldn't be thaaaat expensive.

More than likely wouldn't need a motor for a long time.
This car has a freshly built (Road Race Motor) from Arrow, they are one of the premiere engine builders for the Vipers, especially road race cars.
http://arrowracingengines.com/

This car should actually be about the same $$ to run as a Vette.
The wheels/tires, Penske triples and engine rebuild cost about the same price I am selling it for.

Best Regards,
John Page

Is there like an operators manual for the stuff that comes with it? How would I find someone to work/adj/maintain? How much of a hit would I take when I sold it a year from now?

This is a well sorted out car as it was an "arrive and drive" car for the previous owner and was professionally maintained by Archer Racing.

It doesn't have a "manual" but you should be able to find manuals online for items like the triple adj. Penske shocks, Fuel cell, Wing, Fire system, etc... and we could also go over everything with you but it's not much to learn.

The maintenance would mainly be fluid services, brake service, tires
and inspections which is almost as easy as a street car IMO

Call me please if you need further details

*sigh*
Mr. Page, given the history of racing drivers who hurt themselves on two wheeled machines, I'd say it's a good idea to avoid such unstable contraptions. Also speedboats.

Get well soon and good luck with the sale. Both wonderful cars.
