Last year was our first year in vintage racing. The Corvette we purchased had raced in the Monterey Historic races 3 times with Andy Porterfield as the driver. The Sonoma Historic race last year was still run by Steve. When I read that SVRA had taken over, I figured I would skip the event, as I did want to race with the cars that have "stretched" the rules to make them into modern race cars. I am not a fan of 383cu.in B prod Corvettes or 400 cu.in. 69' Trans Am cars. I was very happy when they announced the "Gold Medallion" rules and after I read a few articles by Tony saying that he wanted "period correct" cars. We are looking forward to the event at Sonoma next weekend and hope our car passes the "Gold Medallion" tech.
I AGREE 100%. History wise, if the world respected the past, the fans will come out to see the old cars run. We are all in transition times in Motorsports as well as everything else in our lives.
The cost today to sponsor an event has created the ''run what you brung'' fields of cars, as numbers are needed to make an event successful. I just hope the classes don't grow to 65 cars. 35 is, I think max. There are only so many hours in a day.
Monterey could be a 10 day race event. Then everyone could play, and maybe, just maybe, hotel costs would be more reasonable.
I have a question regarding this cars intake. How is this motor set up is it a 5.0L with a dual intake with restrictors? Also is there a way to run a dual intake like this?

Paul Rhinehart's Z06 tanker! Helped my dad (larry webb) do a brake job on this.
Long Beach 2014!
I know Paul well. Met your dad in So Cal in 2012 at Jerry Grant tribute at Riverside Raceway Museum. Thanks for posting. Glad to see the car is in a good home. I sent the photo to Paul.
