I'm thinking of doing this exact thing to my waxer splitter I bought from Pete (Quick ZO6).

Here's what I did to the front of my bumper to increase the airflow.

Since I posted those pics I added bracing from the bumber to the splitter and the whole setup is suprisingly strong. Here's where I got the braces from.

Like to see this thread continue. I'm going to need to build a splitter for my C4 ST2/ GT3 (canada) car. Pics would be great for those also.

I can talk to the guy I used and see what his shipping prices are. He can also cut to length whatever you would need.

I think it needs to be a little thicker for track use, the one that was on the Mustang FR500 I race all last year used abs for a splitter but it was 1/2". In some pictures of my C5z06 on the track from a Time Trail you could really see the flex in the 1/4" piece. I found a plastic that was aerated or whipped you might say, so the thicker sheets stayed fairly light, this is what I'll use on my next try in a 3/8" thickness.

Calculating the advertised shipping weight of 44 lbs. for a 4x8 sheet comes out to be 1.375 lbs per square foot. If that is anywhere near correct your piece should weigh about 24.750 lbs. 1/2" thick material would be twice that.

Nice work.

Please keep us informed about the difference in the balance and feel of you C5 with the new splitter.

I enjoy mine:

Did you mount anything behind the turnbuckles where they go into the bumper? Can you take more pictures under the car where you mounted the undertray?

thanks,

Nope, just the bumper. All thats needed. I looked under it, and there really isnt much to see. Just a big plate with bolts. To really see whats going on id have to take it off. If anyone is interested i could do a write up or something

it does look really good. i'm interested in how much air flow you're getting since it's a front breather now and where and how much you plan to cut. did you open the radiator shroud behind the hole you put in the license plate area?

No, thats a hole i made when i did drag racing. Was a sealed tube going straight to the TB. i just use it as an access panel now. As of right now i havent changed anything...yet. im working on that. What i use on track cant work on the street. It would never get to temp.

I am working to set up a system so all i do is remove the front plate and a huge increase will flow.
