Glad to hear the motor is working great, thats always a challenge on a wet sump at Mosport but seems you have a good set up
thank you! And congrats on your 1.30 , well done! What tires?

My goal is a 1.28 on 315/295 R7's. The car definitely feels fast enough. I just have to stop looking at the gauges and drive it.

Those are great lap times. What sort of top speeds are you seeing?

I have been surprised by the effect of rolling resistance on top speed on my stock C5Z. Using 4 year old Nt01s my car is 7kph slower before turn 8 than similar width Michelin PSS and 10 kph slower than 275 Rivals. OTOH the Nittos are almost 2 seconds faster in lap times. This is using an AiM Solo.

Interesting. ..

With the LS6 in 2013 and 315/295 R6 I was kissing the revlimiter (6500) in 4th into T8 during a very aggressive time attack lap (event 7), with stock gears it is around 145/147 I believe. I don't have the data anymore...

Results from event 7

Now on the the TD'S and easy laps with braking early for 8 my max speed was 149mph last time out. Using a G Tech Fanatic😆

Did you have much aero for that event?

The BFG Rivals and Michelin PSSs are about 26.1 " tall at full tread depth.(shorter now) I can leave the car in 4 th and hit 234 with the Rivals and 231 with the Michelins vs 225 with the shorter Nittos which require 5 th gear. OTOH I get out of 5b a full 5-6 kph faster with the Nittos and according to the data logger only lose about 4 kph top speed with the shift.

As mentioned above, the lap times are sig faster with the Nittos, even when 4 years old.

Yes, full aero.

How much faster are you on the Nittos and what's their Dia?

A smaller tire can potentially give you a couple 100rpm more (depending on your powerband up to 25hp!) everywhere on the track with only a small loss in speed with the shift on the back straight, plus less rotating weight😉

BTW. .. anyone ran the RE71R this year? We just corded a set (5 lapping days) on our Turbo Cobalt. Another great street tire option IMHO😉

The Nittos are 25.3" when new so would have been under 25" tall. Despite having to go to 5 th gear and a 6 -7 kph drop in top speed despite a faster exit from 5b, the Nittos were 1.7 seconds faster than the Michelin PSS.

PuckBoard is HDPE sheeting. I picked up a 4'x8'x1/2" sheet and 4'x8'x1/8" at Professional Plastics in Houston. A popular product in the marine market is Starboard which is HDPE sheeting as well but more expensive. Car/Watercraft Audio installers use it to make subwoofer enclosures or general cabinetry for custom installs.

My 2015 season is over:
14 track days total with 6 time attack events.
Only engine problems was a rear main seal, waterpump, and cracked radiator. I think 3rd gear synchro is busted and I have a vibration in the TQ tube now.
Other than that it was a great 2015 season.

check out the video

nope, we were working on the vette doing the cage and tranny. It was a slow process doing everything myself with making my own bender and stuff lol

I ran the cobalt on R7's for a couple lapping days and schools plus the ran the Mosport chumpcar events with MT Motorsport.

Hope to have the vette ready for Trillium in September ☺
