Fuel load ???
I have a C5Z I'm going to be running in Time Attack. I was wondering what the least amount of gas I could run before running into fuel starvation issues.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

The last c5z 2004 had a very new design fuel system, so it depends on what year you have.
From my autox and track experience I can pretty much run it to empty with zero fuel starvation.
2004 c5z
Low fuel warning will come on & maybe a dash light (I forget).

Mine is a 2003.
I haven't seen any fuel starvation threads so I suppose it can be run pretty low.

real high G, I'd leave yourself ~2 gallons at the end. it will "run out" before it runs out

I tell all my competitors to run it right on the ragged edge.

It might be something with my 02c5z but I pick up a miss at 1/3rd of a tank under hard acceleration coming out of right hand turns.

Anyone else experienced this?

Turn 3 at Road America, ran out twice. Make sure you have front tow hook or strap installed!

You ran out (empty tank)?
Or was it a fuel starvation issue?

my 2000 use to cut out at 1/8 tank. (and the change from 1/4 to 1/8 happened quick, only a few laps it seemed.)

Get much below a 1/4 on the gauge and you are risking wasting a run. It will stumble on corner exit.

Yep... Every C5 I've tracked will miss coming out of high G right-handers when the fuel us below 1/4 tank. Hogs pen @ VIR does it the most.

I have run my fuel level down to where my reserve light comes on needle on the bottom mark and have not had an issue with fuel starvation.

Yes. My 03Z (old fuel system) would sputter going around the carousel turn (T5, which is a long sweeping high speed right) at the Glen if the fuel level was below a 1/4 of a tank. When that happened it was a very good idea to pit in when I got around to T11. At 4 to 6 mpg if I didn't pit in it was very close on fuel if I went another 5 miles to get to the pit entrance from the point the first sputter occurred plus it started sputtering on other turns as the fuel got lower.

Thanks Bill. I plan on running at the Z at the Glen later this year.
Would you happen to know what lap times a well driven stock C5Z on Hoosiers would be capable of running at WGI.
Thanks,
Greg

I have run my 03 C5Z06 well past when the low fuel light comes on and I have never had starvation issues. This is at VIR, CMP, etc.
