Default What oil pressures are you getting on track?

Another poll, this time about oil pressure. I'm wondering what you're all getting as far as pressure goes. Please list specifics after you answer the poll, such as:

- Engine type
- Oil pump used
- Oil used
- Oil temp when hot on track
- Measured through stock gauge or other method?

I'll start: I'm getting 30psi consistently under WOT, at 240F. Using stock LS6 pump, Castrol 5-40. Those past two days were really hot and temps got to 250F, pressure dropped to 25. Getting readings from the stock slow-reacting gauge (is it accurate?).

My accusump was not working last weekend at VIR, so this will be closer to a stock setup. AL forged LS2 with ported & shimmed TSP oil pump, Mobil1 10-40, run thru 40 row Setrab cooler temps were 269*. Ambient was 103*. 28 psi was as low as I saw on DIC.

2009 Z06. LS7 with a Ron Davis Racing radiator with internal oil cooler. The oil pump is a Katech ported and blueprinted unit. I run Mobil 1 15w50 oil. Oil temps get up to 270-280 on very hot days, but normally 250-260. I consistently have oil pressures above 50 even with hot oil temps at the end of a track session. This is as read on the DIC and also data from the ALDL through my AIM Solo DL.

40-50 PSI
'00 LS1 112k mi, DRM oil cooler
Stock Pump and gauge
Mobil 1 15-50
240-260 degrees on track, but every track day I've been to has been 90-100 degrees. I also short shift the car, 5500 max rpm.

I think your experience level will have a significant effect as well. The faster you are, the harder you push the car. I'd say I'm a quick intermediate.

Mid 30s psi measured through DIC. Stock LS6. Large Mocal plate type cooler (similar to Setrab 625). Mobil 1 10W-30. Low 240s F max. I had to edit as my memory was wrong - I just looked at my log, so my vote is incorrect (not 40s psi)

Generally stays at or above 50psi at all times. Dips into the mid 40s coming through T2 at VIR with high Gs.

Engine type - 2001 LS6 with 122,xxx miles (stock) DRM oil cooler with Setrab 625 unit

Oil pump used - LS4 with the 42psi relief spring

Oil used - Amsoil XL 10w40

Oil temp when hot on track - Hottest it will ever get is 269; usually high 250s low 260s

Measured through stock gauge or other method - Stock gauge

If you are meaning with accusump working, I have the 35psi valve, so my DIC says around 33psi when really hot.

I have an Accusump too. Does that mean it's not working properly?

I had an issue with my pressure switch, so I just did the last track day without. I don't really seem to have oil pressure issues - it is just insurance for my forged motor. Here is thread if you haven't seen it:

I meant, does my low pressure mean something is amiss with the AS?

- Engine type - LS6 ->383 Stroker
- Oil pump used - Texas Speed ported and Shimmed
- Oil used - M1 5-30
- Oil Cooler - DeWitt Rad w/oil cooler
- Oil Pressure when hot on track - 20 HOT at idle, 50's at WOT
- Measured through stock gauge or other method? - System Pressure measured using OEM gauge/DIC and secondary A-pillar digital gauge measured at the pump. about 10lb difference between the two.
- Accusump - Yes and the accusump gauge (located under the hood) indicates the same pressure as my OEM gauge/DIC so I would say the OEM is pretty accurate.
- Oil Temps - 250-260

- Engine type- stock ls1

- Oil pump used- stock

- Oil used- 5w-30 and 10w-40 (mobil-1 and valvoline and castrol.. all synthetic)

- Oil temp when hot on track- 260-285 (105 outside temp)

- Measured through stock gauge or other method- Stock Gauge

Typically @ wot over 40 psi and even 50 psi . I can't give a sure answer cause I just know where abouts the needle is.

When coming back into pits ~35 psi.

Sorry, about 75 psi at 6,000 RPM. The ARE secondary pump assures you always have a lot of oil in the dry sump tank and I vent the valve covers to the tank with an extra breather tank running to it.

Do you know which pressure switch rating you have? I got the 35-40 psi, but the other option was a 20-25psi. I did not want to wait until it got that low to kick in. I realized mine had an issue when I would prelube the motor and the oil pressure would stay at 0psi. Hopefully Canton will resolve that soon and I can get mine back and running. HTH.

I'm not sure which one I have but I just tried to turn it on while the pressure was in the low 30s and it jumped up a little, so I would assume the 35-40psi? Definitely not seeing 35-40 on track when the oil is at its full temperature, though!

Get the 20psi switch. Anything higher and the valve will be open pretty much all the time. If you want it open all the time it's best just to use a manual valve. The "idea" behind the low pressure switch is so that the accusump dumps when the pressure is lower than normal and does so at full pressure. If it is open all the time it's just an additional supply of oil and will not dump into the oil passeges quickly.
If they had a 10-15psi switch I would have used that on my own car.
