Default One way radio for SCCA events

Does anybody know of a decently priced radio that can pick up the SCCA frequencies and maybe NCCC?
A scanner would be ok also.
Thanks....Tom Woodgeard - Sarasota, FL

Tom,
You can probably check with your local SCCA region to get their frequencies and then have them programmed.

NCCC does not use radios except for maybe cheap walkie talkies for autocross events.

What does "decently priced mean". I can get/make anything you might want. I'm in Port Charlotte.

I believe SCCA is running on the commercial UHF bands (450-470). Need to get the freq's then you need a general coverage receiver. Most all of the radios will scan but you can program the freq's you want and then scan just those. Can also monitor all the in-car traffic, etc.

However, a lot of the tracks use VHF in the 150's because of distance. So depending, you may need two radios or a dual band.

The more you need the less "decently priced" they become.

I was at Sebring last Sunday and you couldn't hear any announcements at all. Later on I was standing with a man who had a radio and could hear everything through his radio. It looked like a 2 way that was clipped to his belt. He was definitely a spectator and not a SCCA official.
I did see that they broadcasted in the 400's. I just would like to pick up an inexpensive radio to hear what's going on.
There is a small SoloII unit on ebay but it requires ear buds. Kind of defeats the purpose if you can't hear anything at the Track but your radio.

I wish i remember what Road America and the SCCA use for their radio's. They use hardwired and 2 way radios.

Thanks for the replies. I have found some Uniden scanners on Ebay, pretty reasonable. Special thanks for the frequency list!!
