Does anyone use racing simulators? I bought the Logitech G27 and Race07/GTR Evolution (and GTR2). It is unbelievably realistic. It's teaching me a lot about fast driving without having to leave the living room. I highly recommend it. Turns out there's a world of online gamers doing the same. You can download and add new tracks/cars. It's endless.
But seriously, it is unbelievably realistic. I love it.
I use to be a serious online racer with the Papryus Nascar sims dating back to Nascar Racing in DOS format and following through to the company's demise. Was a beta tester for their Nascar Racing 2 SIM. Some of the guys took it so serious as to take the fun out of it and I got tired of running in circles.
I've got a Playseat Evolution with a full Logitech G27 setup that I use for PS3 games. My main games are Need For Speed: Shift, Gran Turismo 5, F1 2010 and Dirt3. Of course, I modified the pedal plate on the playseat to locate the pedals better for heel/toe shifting and tweaked the shifter to be more realistic.
I used GT5 mostly and have a G27 with a simple seat set up.
I tried R-factor, but found it to be labor intensive to set it up. I never really got it working right.
Really enjoyed I-Racing a lot. Some great racing - truly and they have some great tracks. I just don't have much time and didn't like paying a monthy charge and not using it. I also didn't like that you had to buy all the cars/tracks.
NFS Shift is fun too and have a couple of cool tracks like Road America and Button Willow on there. The graphics in GT5 are just really hard to beat as is the diversity of cars. Can usually find some good races too.
IRacing is great from a community standpoint. The set up of licensing and points is very cool to promote clean racing. I just started it a couple months ago. I do dislike the need to pay for new content as you go along. I understand they are funding a big operation, but cut me a break you get my money every month...
GTR Evolution is a nice one, it has some nice features I wish iRacing had, like the look to apex feature. I don't know about the online set up of it. I've only played the single player version.
I recently got to spend some time using the CXC setup at Seat Time in Santa Monica ( http://www.seattimesims.com/ ) after that I could no longer stand to use the Logitech setup we have at work.

Holy #%@#&%$*!!! That costs around twice what my Vette is worth!!!
I do a little I racing .
I have over a thousand real miles at Road America , but I was able to learn a few things from the sim .
Every once in a while I racing will have a special deal 1yr for $ ...
