Default bad patch

Had my tire patched. (street tire). Chasing a very slow leak ever since. Turns out its the same area where they patched it. Guy must of did a lousy job.

Can they put a patch over a patch? I know they grind down the area, and I can't imagine them grinding it again to remove the old patch & old glue.

Default

I've had this happen on bad patch jobs that Ive done myself(bad prep or incomplete patch stitching.) Clean the edges of the existing patch and tire with solvent, apply RTV along the edges and fully cure before inflation.
There are some racing tires that do not have a rubber inner liner to save weight(Goodyear, Dunlap,) these tires can be patched by using a rubber patch and RTV without adhesive as well.
