I think there are two races this morning (race 1 just ended and race 2 starts shortly), and then two later this afternoon. Wish I could have attended this, maybe next year.

And for the non-cable population, V8Supercars does it right, free streaming of the races:

I was going to compare the Grand Am times with the V8 Supercars and then finally figured out they were not running the full GP course, and during one segment they discussed it a bit and in the future they might have them run the full course. They were running 1:33.5 or so for fast laps on the shortened course, which had them taking a short cut after turn 6, over to turn 12.

Too bad they ran the short course, but it was very busy, maybe that's why they did it?
Anyway those cars are like 3100 lbs and 650 hp, should be a bit faster than grand am. They were hitting over 240 km/hour on the front straight.

Went this weekend, race was pretty good, will defintely go again next year. The GT/GTS and the 911 GT3 cups were good as well. The kid Madison Snow kick everyones but in the Porsche cup cars. Man that kid can drive. He goes out and sets a Q time no one can beat and then just tools around the track the rest of the Q session.

I believe the fastest V8 supercar time was about 1 second faster than the best World Challenge GT time on the shorter track they ran. They were pretty close. I was there in turn 15 and a little disappointed they ran the short track, but still had a great time.

When the v8 supercars race a Bathurst (the only race of theirs I consistently watch) they really jump the apex curbing. I noticed they did the same thing at cota. At first I wondered how they did that. When I raced at cota in march I found the curbs really upsetting to my car. But then I also noticed that during the v8 race the orange breadboxes at the top of the apex curbing was removed so I guess that makes for easier jumping. Anyone else notice that?

Hi guys. glad you liked our Aussie Supercars! As a speed comparison, the supercars are usually a 1-2 seconds slower than the fastest GT cars we have which are the SLS mercs, 458 Ferraris and the Lambos at tracks like Philip Island and Bathurst. They make their lap times in the straights and not in corner speed compared to GT cars which make their speed from the mid corner. This years cars are far better than the previous version (which I have driven) in that they have an LSD and double a arm front and rear suspension so the mid corner grip is now much better. The car I drove was a locked 9in diff with strut fronts and trailing arm rear, H pattern holinger and was a pig! I was very happy to get back in my turbo Miata! Mind you, the straight line acceleration of a V8 Supercar is epic. My Z06, which is getting caged at the moment pulled 640hp on the dyno, so I expect it should lap around the same times as the supercars once I stick a sequential box in it.

Anywhere from $60k for an old one, to over $200k for more recent cars. Check out www.my105.com for Aussie race cars for sale. Not sure what 888 Racing (who build the Red Bull Australia cars) charge for the 2013 car, but I suspect it may be north of $300k.

I'll have to get the details from one of my buddies. He and I went to the F1 race at COTA last year, and I passed on going to the Supercars race. He had pictures on his Facebook page from the Holden garage and from a ride along with Eric Curran. Sounds like he had a blast.
