Default Video - what remote mic to choose?

For a Contour HD w/GPS and Dashware, but in general what small remote mics do you guys have or like?

Thanks in advance

I use the Audio Technica on a GoPro and run the remote mic to the license plate.

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR-3350-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B002HJ9PTO http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR-3350-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B002HJ9PTO

The mic is reasonably priced and comes with a long enough cable to route to the rear of the car. The only downside is that it requires a battery and there isn't a visible battery indicator.

Here is a video I shot recently.

Like it, pretty good sound, not much wind. Is the mic in the open air or boxed/baffled any way? The long cord is something I definitely want. Thinking of putting a mic in the storage compartment in back with some muffling around it. Hard to get things really good w/o rattles, wind etc. Gotta like the good ole V8 sound done right!

mic is in the open air. I just use some painters tape to attach it to the license plate. Putting it in the storage compartment doesn't help too much as it sounds a bit muffled. Just run it out the back and tape it down and it should be good to go.

I use a Sony ECM-MS907 placed near the rear of the inside of the car.

(See U Tube under Last C5 for various videos)

That sounds great!

Are you drilling a hole in the case for the GoPro to connect the mic cable?

I have the skeleton case for my GoPro so I didn't have to drill out my case.

You'll enjoy the new setup. Skeleton case is a great idea. I just drilled mine and its working fine so if you mock up a second setup don't be afraid to drill it.

Be sure to buy some extra batteries. They are fairly cheap and I just swap a new one in each time I go to an event. It is cheap insurance that the mic will always be on.
