How often do you replace both your wheel studs and lugs???

I will replace wheel studs when I change out hubs. If I can't run a lug nut down by hand without it hanging up, I toss it and get a new one. I use the cheap open ended steel ones from NAPA so I have plenty extras.

I use ARP wheel studs on my car, never had to replace one after 4 years use. Broke two stock studs in a year, and that is what made me change. I use NAPA lugs and replace every two years or when one gets hard to turn on the stud.

New lug nuts every 4 or 5 years. The points on the hex start getting sharp edges.

Studs come with the bearing/hub. I replaced 3 hubs in 8 years.

The studs that come with bearings are junk, good for maybe one year. I just threw out 5 new ones that came with an skf bearing I replaced. I replaced with used arp good for 3 yr so far on my car, lug nuts change every yr.

Here's an article I did a few years back on wheel studs and nuts. Keep in mind that a bolt (or wheel stud) is actually a spring. It you stretch a spring too far it won't return to it's original shape.

The biggest killer of wheel studs is the impact gun. Don't let one near your car.
