How Many 88-89 Challenge Cars Actually Still Race?
New to this stuff but highly motivated to do Waterford Hills and obtain SCCA SVRA Licenses. The Bucket List is Indy Invitational 2015 or 2016. Living in Central IN all my life, the opportunity to run at Indy in any capacity is mind boggling.
Anyway, does anyone ever see an actual Challenge Corvette run SVRA or SCCA these days. I own 1988 Challenge Car #98.
Ready to get my feet wet this year.

The big problem is the Challenge cars really don't fit into a class. In SVRA you're in with a bunch of cars that will run you over. They just fly past you. Lance Miller tried it for a couple of years. He ended up buying a Callaway LeMans car he was so frustrated.
The other thing is that most Corvette vintage racers seem to prefer the C3 with the big block. Lots of those are being raced.
btw - If you're in the Waterford area you need to get to know Danny Kellemyer. He's the guru on all things Corvette. Even better would be to have him coach you at the Waterford Hills course.

I also agree on getting Danny Kellemyer involved in one's coaching @ Waterford

There was a guy named Mario from Lake George, NY who used to run a Challenge car with COM Sports Car Club. I haven't seen him in a while but I haven't run with COM in years.

Put some fresh rubber on that and you can run AP with Midwestern Council . Run W2W or if your just getting your feet wet , in the High Speed Auto X . We also have two schools to get a race license .
Hooked On Driving will also get you some Serious track time .

I found this picture that I took of Mario Fallas's car at a COM event at Watkins Glen in 2008.
Here's a link to some of his info on the EMRA site: http://www.emraracing.org/teams-driv...s/1-Timetrials Looks like he's still running it in time trials.
