Default Purchasing first track wheel/tire set - a few questions

I've searched quite a bit in the forums and got quite a bit of info from the "what I have learned" sticky. That said, as I look at my first tire/wheel purchase, I still have a few questions/clarifications I'm hoping to get some help with.

I run mainly HPDE events and informal track days. Nothing sanctioned or formally competitive. I'm not good enough to worry about eeking out every last tenth of a second from my tires, so I'm just looking for something that's a step up from high performance street tires. What I would like to purchase:
  • GM Speedline wheels -- 18x10 all around
  • Toyo R888 tires
Ideally, I would like to run the same size tire on all 4 wheels so I can carry a 5th spare around, which leads to my questions:

  • Can I reasonably run the same size tire all around or am I asking for problems?
  • I can't find a clear answer on whether doing this will cause problems with the ABS and/or active handling. Some threads say yes, others say they run with no problems.

Thanks!

EDIT: Subsequent to posting, I found this site which seems to suggest I can't run the same size tire. Does the computer just complain about it or does it actually shut off ABS and/or active handling?

You just cannot run a larger front tire unles you trurn off TC. Same diamter front and rear is not a problem with C5.

OK, thanks for the reply. If I'm going to run the following tires:
  • (2) 275/35/18 Toyo R888 - fronts
  • (2) 305/35/18 Toyo R888 - rears

Can I run them all on 18x10.5 speedline wheels or do I need 9" wheels on the front?

I run 18X10.5s with 315/30/18s on all four corners - no problem.
305/35 will work on all four corners too.

Do you run with the nannies on or off? If on, does the computer complain at all?

AS SOMEONE else said your ok to run all the same wheel/tire size with no nannies/trouble. your rears are 305/35/18, they are taller than the 275/35/18 fronts. feel better?
