Default Conti

Awhile back I picked up a set of Conti's race scrubs to try for HPDE's/track days. Finally getting a chance to use them at NCM event at Summit. Will be running 305/65/18 on a square setup - '04 Z06, pretty much stock. track/street alignment. Anybody using Conti's, please post- opinions or other wisdom. What is target pressure?

Appreciate the help

I've used several sets of them. If your alignment is less than -2.0 then you will need to run them at a higher PSI. First time out I had -1.7 camber and about 29-30psi hot and corded the outside edge in one day. That sucked. Next set I bumped the psi up to around 36-38 and they wore much better. Now I have spherical bushings and -2.5 camber and ~30-32psi they work really well.

I like the Hankook C51 tire better (they are friggin awesome) but the Conti Scrubs are a good deal. For me they worked quite well once I got the alignment set and they last a long time if you can get them to wear evenly. All in all a great bang for the buck.

Start 22-24 cold. Flip them on the rims after 2-3 days to even out the wear. And yes get a decent track oriented alignment. I think Phoenix managed to get mine to about -2.5

I'm in a similar situation as you, running those tires on a stock-aligned, bone stock C5 Z51. They a great tire for the money, but as others have said above: will work best with a track alignment, as you will wear the outside edges quickly.

I start around 25-26 psi cold, and that seems to work well for me.

Great advice. I flipped mine after the outside edges were starting to get really low, and you can drive them down until your "other" edges are at the end of their life.

I haven't been on the track yet this season - even missed CVCC at Pocono. Hoping to get a couple events in before it gets too cold!!the season's over - hope to see you. Thanks for the info

I think they are horrible tires.. I've had probably 4 used sets and two new sets. The two sets brand new: each set exhibited the same issue: on the 4th session (heat cycle) they took 3+ laps to warm up (versus 1) and the fastest lap was 1.4 seconds slower than the previous 3 sessions. When they heat cycle out they are good for drifting only. When an earlier set of scrub contis heat cycled out on me I switched to 300 treadwear street tires and picked up 7 seconds a lap on a new to me track. Another set of scrubs I bought were heat cycled already and were slick as snot right out of the gate, the seller gave me another set for free. They are OK only IF you are doing DE and only IF it doesn't cost too much to blow off the event because your tires are crap. I am used to running tires to the cords.. I only successfully did that with a couple of Contis.

I have been running scrubs for two years and found that they are best at 36-38 psi hot, I also was not super happy with them until I tried the G6000 compound Love em now 2:22 best at Sebring, 2:09 VIR, stock 2009 Z06 with DRM blisten and T-1 sways.
