Bill is doing some smoking hot driving. He is fast and consistent as usual.

The whole field is full of great drivers from all over the US. It is a tough field in which to earn a pole. I bet tomorrow's race gets a bit rough at times.

Bill went out with 2 other cars at the start. Looked like his was mechanical but not for sure and the other 2 cars got into each other as well as the BMW M3. Not sure what happened to Oli. Hope he gets it back for GT2! Tough luck for Bill B. he ended up running .5 better than Andrew A. in qualifying and would have been a great race.

He just posed to FB. bent pushrod, f'd plug, maybe busted spring. likely a lot of other damage. Said he's done for the weekend.

Been there, done that but this certainly was the worst time for this to happen.

Bill will return......faster than ever.

Clarification.

Oli lost his engine.

Bill got egregiously bumped three time by Pratt Cole going into T1 at the start, almost putting him into the wall. Bill kept it off the wall, but got collected by Cole and another.

Here you can see the melee known as the start of the 2014 SCCA T1 Runoffs Race. There are two incidents. The first one you can see easily between Preston Calvert in the red Corvette and Mark Boden in the BMW. As I crest the top of Turn One you can see on the right the orange Mustang of Pratt Cole in the tire smoke cloud. Center screen and track left you can see Bill Brinkop spinning into the kitty litter outside the Turn Two apex.

Six laps later you can see my engine quietly and peacefully pass away exiting Turn Four. I broke a valve spring and that was the end for my Runoffs before I even got to race GT2.

That start was painful to watch...you'd think after 3 days of qualifying the front straight wall would be burned in everyone's mind and keep things sane on the start.

Oli, looked like you were settling in for a great race. Sorry to learn it wasn't so....thanks for the great video!

At the start the red/orange car trying to squeeze next to the wall had a 0% chance of making a clean pass. What a stupid move. Especially at the beginning of the race.
