Default wheel spacers or not

Going to run 18x10.5 and RE 71R in 275 square on my base C6. They sit in of the wheel wells. Should I run wheel spacers? I know it will look better but will it handle different?

Yes & you'll probably need longer studs.

Why should I have a wider track?

In terms of suspension engineering, it lowers the center of gravity & with that comes quite a few benefits.

GM does not optimize the car's track. I fits the track into a body that a body designer creates. Some give & take occurs but usually styling wins.
