Just need brag-vent a little!
Went to the track today to work on my exiting. I knew I had big time to gain because I was coming out with the wheel really turned (not getting straight fast enough).
After getting some advice, I braked earlier and was able to get more momentum/speed on the way out, letting the car drift a bit more.
Result?
dropped +4.5 seconds
It was a 2:02.5xx lap at Eagles Canyon. I couldn't believe it. Bone stock C6z51 (heavy one at that, 4Lt with passenger) on Pole S04's that very worn and Carbotech brakes.

Well done! Maybe I'll see you out there sometime. Has the surface gotten any better over the last year? I normally go to Cresson because I never really felt comfortable pushing the limit at Eagles Canyon.

I think I'm going to pick up a Miata this weekend or next weekend. I'm not going any faster than 2:02 in the Vette and a Miata costs as much as tires and brakes on the Vette.

Eagles Canyon is a Vette track.. problem is it is SO bumpy you can't stay WOT on the long straight between 6 and 7. I lost Guibos and had to do a torque tube rebuild because of those bumps.
The trick to that track is that the big U Turn turns (6 and 11) that lead onto the longest straights.. the 1st half of the turns in both of those corners are throw away apexs.. stay 4-6' off the curbs for the first part, apex the last curbing.. car is straighter, straightaway starts earlier.
There is almost no downside to owning a Miata other than HP. You will become a much faster driver in the Miata for sure!

I've done lots of riding there, very little driving. I'm guessing a grand total of 50-60 laps. 70 at most.
I have no problem staying WOT. My biggest problem is getting the back around through turns.

I was shocked. I was expecting 2:04-2:05, but I knew I was moving because I was on gas early and everything was sticking. The problem with street tires is they overheat after one good lap. I never get any consistency out of them.
