C6 Z06 TW200 Tire Options SCCA AS Class
Ok, i've tried to read through the other thread and honestly got a headache!
What are my options...currently on old M PS2's on 18/19 Z06 Rims. Willing to invest in wheels but don't want to over invest!
For now i want to drive to events and like the idea of the TW200 restrictions.
BTW, got smoked by an E92 FS M3 on RE71's 1 sec over my best run (45 sec course)...ouch!
Thanks!

Yup, that's the only really competitive option this year (BFG). Although there is a rumor of a wider RE71R coming next year. Only 305/19 though, but no need to buy rims if it happens.

Yep, go down to an 18" rear wheel and run the Rival-S (275 front, 335 rear) or wait and see if the 71R comes out in a 19" size next season.
PS
Some folks were (and still are) running the 315 Rival-S on the front of the C6Z though it's not something I'd choose to do if you can get the 275.

200TW Options
Thanks Guys - My fears are confirmed that those are the choices...UGH!
So how much quicker will the BFG or the RE11 be versus my tires??? Mine (2011 vintage M PS2s) have a 220TW but I'm guessing aren't up to par.
How big a deal is to it to the scca classing police it to increase width? I saw C6Z06 guys regularly upsize to 18/11 and 18/13 FR and RR for their track setups. Seems there are some used wheels in those sizes available. My guess is its a BIG NO NO!

You can't increase the width of your rims at all in street classes. You can upsize or downsize the rim by 1" and you change offset by 7mm in either direction.
Tire size, on the other hand, is completely open. You want to cram a 315 on a 9.5" wheel or stretch a 205 onto an 8" wheel? It's totally allowed.

Depends on how many miles you're going to drive. The Rival S wears reasonably well, but they are definitely softer than previous gen.
The Rival S is 1-1.5 sec quicker on a 60 sec course than the Hankook RS3V2 (which are faster than the PS2, although I don't know how much). 1.5-2 seconds total wouldn't be surprising. The Rival S is the only street tire I've had on my C5Z that I can actually say put down power reasonably well.

Re11
So looks like RE11's are OEM or near sizes 18/19 set up. Tell me more about those versus what I have and or the "must have Rival / RE11!
I've got dedicated street tires so this is simply for my second set for driving to and from events.

I use the RE-11 on my car (C5 FRC) mainly because I drive the car on the street all the time and do not have the facilities to have a 2nd set of rims/tires (I live in an apartment). Even if I did have space, I'm not a fan of having to switch rims/tires at an event and have to deal with toting them around.
I may give the Rival S a try next year, but I have a feeling they'll be worn out by the end of the summer and useless for the fall. I really, really don't want to have to buy 2 sets of tires per year for this car. I don't know how the RE-71 would fare, but I can't imagine it'd be better. From what I've read, the Rival S lasts a tiny bit longer. Nobody I know has put anything more than maybe 2000 miles on the tires and the tread is half gone (or more). So far this year I've put 8k on my car and it's only September. I'll be driving it until they start salting the roads.
My RE-11s have been great though. Grippy, good in the rain, and they've held up to the abuse VERY well. I'm already at 130 runs on them with close to 5k street miles and the fronts are just under half worn. I've still got another 30 runs worth of autocross this year to go as well. The rears have held up better, but I'm also not sliding the back-end around at autocrosses.

Rival S or RE71Rs are the only real competitive tire options for Street. Get whatever you prefer/is cheaper in whatever sizes you can use. For a C6Z, it will be the Rival S since there are no RE71 compatible sizes.
RE11 is a waste of money for Street class competitiveness. They were slower than last years tires, which are slower than this year's tires.

If this is going to be you're 2nd set and only used for driving to/from events and competing on them, the Rival S would be a good choice. You'd have to get an 18" rear rim of the same width and similar offset (again +/- 7mm).

This was the worst of my 2 rears after the last TnT. I'd have to go back and look but I think this was somewhere around 60-ish runs as well as ~1700-ish miles. The rears were quite a bit more worn than the fronts (estimating a 2:1 wear ratio front:rear); this was predominantly on a VERY coarse surface and with aggressive but not over-driving the tire.
