sport cup 2 vs Super sport - driving to track
C7 Z51
I am going Watkins Glen for a one day HPDE.
5 hour drive each way.
I have two sets of Wheels and tires.
1. Michelin Super Sport non ZP
2. Sport Cup 2
Both near new condition.
I know the track performance will be better with the Sport Cup's but I am concerned that the 10 hours of highway driving will negatively affect the tires and cause issues.
What are your thoughts.
Which set would you use.

Use the Sport Cups.
Sticky tires don't wear so bad when they are being used non-aggressively. Your camber will be the biggest factor but both ties would be affected by that.
On a street car, you can't afford to worry about Heat Cycling, it is what it is.
Also, you ought to be able to find some nice curves on the way there and back.

Sport cup 2 vote. I have -2.2 front and -1.8 rear, drive to the track and home on cups, be since able in the heavy rain. Light mist they were fine once warmed up. Start with 28 cold and run them at 32 hot. They over heat at 34, so watch your pressure sensor. I love those tires. Got about 15 heat cycles out of them before they started getting hard, still have some groves. Other then price I like that tire for a street capable tire.
