Is there any reason I "shouldn't" do this? Any negatives beyond rubbing?

Any comments about the poor steering feel and feedback I mentioned above?

Not really any negatives, you will be happy with the setup. I still recommend the 275/35/18 Maxxis RC1 setup based on my experience due to the ridiculously slow wear rate, but that is just my personal opinion.

Definitely appreciate the advice on the RC1's.

How many days did you get out of the NT01's?

Life varied greatly depending on the track, number of session, length of sessions, etc. I guess on average you could say that I got 3 "average" weekends (6 days) on a set of NT01. With the RC1 I tend to get 4.5-5 average weekends (9-10 days) on a set.

I ran both NT01 sizes and didn't have rubbing issues with either, but I had stock brake ducts. Although aesthetics are likely a secondary or tertiary concern, I preferred the 305/35 setup because it filled my wheelwells much more completely. Even with a smaller aftermarket steering wheel, I never had an issue with low-speed steering feel.

Got my NT01 315/30-18's today. Man these are wide....I'm comparing them to my Nitto 555RII 285/35-18's and the 315's are a lot of tire. Hopefully I will have the same success as people wirte about in this thread.

I decided to cheap out this round and save about $300 and went with the new Toyo R888R's in 295. They run one size wide, so they are more like a 305. Please report back with how they fit and what your thoughts are after testing them out. Interested in your results.

Default Maxxis tire pressures

Hi, based on your posts and some other info, I decided to go with Maxxis RC1's in 275 square on my C5Z. What tire pressures did you end up with? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Okay, a couple PSI lower than I ran on my 555RII's I'll be putting these to the test at Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch for 3 days this coming weekend. Full recap will be forthcoming.

Default can't wait to switch

I'm using up 305/35-18 Nto1's, and can't wait to go to 315/30-18s. Just did a weekend on some old Hoosier A6 315/30-18 off a friend's race car, and loved them. Besides not hitting everywhere, the 30 series lower the cars center of gravity a tad, and change the gearing for better dig. Some have said that 315's feel squishy on a stock wheel, but I didn't notice any of that. The car felt great, and was never faster. Left wondering whether to commit to NTO1's again, which wear much better, or start buying scrub Hoosiers.

Default 315 NT01 square review

I just finished my first set of NT01's, 315 square on my 2001 Z06. I put these tires on when i first acquired the car 3 seasons ago.. The car has Heads, Headers, cam, Fast intake, 425 rwhp/ 390 rwtq. I've worked my way through Intermediate over the past few seasons, running 2 to 3 weekend each year. I ran in the advanced group for the first time that past weekend at Mid Ohio.

That being said, This past weekend were the 13th and 14th track days for these NT01's. Leave out some secession's missed for rain and mechanical difficulties, I went into the weekend with 11 or 12 track days on the tires over the past 3 seasons. Keep in mind I was getting to know the car early on and was not that hard on them. In general, I am not hard on brakes or tires. My buddy took some "unofficial times" from the observation deck at Mid Ohio this weekend, I was running in the middle of the A group time-wise.

Needless to say I was impressed with the life of the tire, but more so the consistency. My second-to-last weekend was Pitt Race a few weeks back, the tires were solid, I could detect very little fall off, I press the tires very hard at Pitt Race all weekend. Going into this past weekend I could see the tires were at life's end. They were not quite to the ware-bars but close. I could see the surface was different than at any time previous, rougher, i guess is how I would describe it.

Throughout their life they were very consistent from the start of a session to the finish, to the beginning of the day to the end, from first weekend to last. This last weekend started out feeling like I made a bad decision to run these one more weekend, a bit too squishy. As they heated up, they certainly were not at the same level as the previous weekend but they stabilized and ran about the same all weekend, definitely less grip but still consistent all weekend. I am sure I ran faster on these tires the 14th track day than I did the first weekend I ran them at Mid Ohio due to experience.
I am very impressed with the performance and the value, about $100 in tires per track day.
Next I am going to try a set of Pirelli scrubs, 305/315's and see how that compares.
Here are some Picks after 14 track days

I hope this is helpful to others considering a NT01's in a square setup

WOW! You are right, what a great deal! I ordered 4, heat cycled. Thanks for the heads up on that deal. On top of getting the tires for $200 each, I also put it on my Discount tire credit card and got a $40 rebate and 9 months same as cash.

Bought a year of track insurance for my C7Z, so I run pretty often. Will be about 35 track days in a calendar year. Car eats tires, it’s heavy and fast.
I shop hard for deals, they’re my biggest expense.
