My rims were supposed to ship tomorrow. CCW just told me I have 4 weeks left on my order. So apparently zero progress has been made.

On the bright side, the new guy is responding promptly and curtiously. Hopefully it goes smooth with no more delays going forward. I'll keep the tread updated.

I talked to Dan at Finspeed today for awhile about wheels for my car. They are very much alive and kicking now. He said they will be back at full kill in about a month. So that pleased me very much. I will likely be getting a set of F100's soon.
So anyone who wanted Finspeed wheels and thought they were out of luck can rest easy!

We have been in communication, and it appears to be 4 weeks until they start back up.

FWIW, while my CCW rims were way later than initially forecast, they ended up coming in over 4 weeks ahead of their last estimate. However, I only ordered 2 wheels and received 4 center caps and lug nuts that I didn't need.

With all these wheel manufacturers available, it seems that a lot of them are very small companies that work out of a garage or small shop. They buy the wheels in pieces from China or Taiwan or the USA, do some final assembly and call themselves "XXX Wheels Inc". There seems to be a lot of these situations where wheel companies take your money, promise wheels in 6 weeks and don't deliver for over 3 months. This is bull crap.
So, here are a couple of questions that any of the reputable wheel companies should be able to jump on here and answer:
1. Do wheels need to be DOT approved? Are yours?
2. Do you carry product liability insurance on your wheels?
3. Do you have any type of tracking system to verify build dates, tracking raw material lots, serial numbers on wheels, etc?
4. Do you have a system in place for warranty, recalls and quality control management?
These are real concerns because track usage isn't the issue, it's when driving on the street that things can get crazy. If you're running a aftermarket wheel done by some fly by night outfit that is here today, gone tomorrow and you have an accident that is caused by a wheel failure, it will get very expensive if there is serious injury or death to others. Insurance companies are great for cashing your premium checks but any chance to avoid a payout because you decided to run a non spec, non DOT compliant wheel with no product liability insurance and you may be on your own.
Just food for thought.

John Pruner started out as a racing wheel manufacturer. This was in the late '90's He moved from race wheels to street wheels. I think that was sort of important.
