Early rough design.

Looks pretty cool. I was wondering what it would be like to cut out the rear bumper to do this from an aesthetics perspective.

Are you running straight pipes to fit under the trunk sump, or are you going right under it?

Solid design. Would think you could cut out for pipes, raise it to body line & extend strakes a bit for more efficiency while maintaining less than 8 degrees and not stalling air?

It's cut to make room for the mufflers.

thanks

interesting you mentioned that 😉
yeah I thought about all that for a while... not sure how the on/off exhaust flow would effect high speed corners if I were to use that inside the diffuser?
and 8-12 DEG was discussed in the book, with 8-10 DEG as optimum. So I have it adjustable for that. Going to start with 10😉

thanks

edit : I re read that chapter on diffusers again last night...
you're right, over 8 it starts to stall👍

looking at the charts is seems that at 8-10 the balance moves more forward? That's why I was thinking 10...

what do you mean extend the strakes more?

I probably have to study this a lot more lol
but I think I'm close enough to notice a huge difference ☺.

thanks again for your input.

Wow. I read the same book and have some others to read this next winter. I have been brain storming trying to think of a diffuser for my c6z. I Ike your design, my concern would be the rear suspension travel, which is what keeps me at bay from this design. Have you tested this on the track yet?

I'm on a T1 suspension so my car sits fairly high. At full droop nothing is touching and I should have 3-4 in clearance under full compression.
hope to track test June 9 weekend on Mosport 😉

went to a local track (tight and techical infield with a 120mph straight) last night for a shakedown before next weekend on Mosport...

Initial impressions: definitely more down force, especially over 100mph. High speed braking is MUCH improved.

no sorry... its not sealed. i have a 15 deg bent up lip just for added strength. it only goes to the center line of the rear axle.

Mosport was a huge success last weekend. My corner speeds was up by around 4-5 MPH on average.
Shaved a second on old tires crappy tires. Most seat of the pants feel, was the high speed braking into Turn 8! Super stable now.,

That turned out really good as the results show. I'm glad the diffuser worked out as planned.

I do have a couple of tech questions on the fitment. If you ran the exhaust pipe out each side of the rear lower quarter panel, would that give you enough room to raise the entire structure up another 2" to 3" and would it be worth it in your opinion?

I've seen the exhaust done like this on another C5 and it looked good, plus it looks like you could add an even larger muffler for each bank if sound was an issue at the track.

6 point harness with no neck restraint? I thought that was a really really bad idea to not have a neck restraint with harnesses?
