Default How My C7 GS Z07 Did at Sebring this weekend

After life got in the way for over a year I've recently got back into our little hobby. Anyway I don't want to travel much any more so Sebring is my primary track these days and I needed a "summer" track car so I bought a 2017 GS Z07 and like many people I was most interested to see how it would handle the heat. I've posted lap times as everyone is always interested in that but I was most interested to see how the car would cool.

After following the break in procedure to a T the car was ready for its first event this weekend with NASA and I ran TT. I would normally only run 3 or 4 laps for TT however I wanted to see how the cooling in the car was so I extended my sessions early in the event to get an indication of what the car temps would be.

The car is show room stock except for: Brake lines, Brake fluid, Tow Hooks, and GM spec'd alinement. The car weighed 3628 with 3 gallons of fuel and me 235# with helmet.(the car has the optional CF roof)

I've run a number of tires in the past but this was my first time on cups.

1st Session(warm up) 830 am Saturday track was green and damp from heavy rains overnight, I was running at about 80%.

Minutes: 20
Water Temp: 213
Oil Temp: 270
Temp: 80
Lap Time: 2:30.x

2nd Session 1005 am.

Minutes: 20
Water Temp: 217
Oil Temp: 275
Temp: 82
Lap Time: 2:26.6

3rd Session Noon.

Minutes: 15
Water Temp: 215
Oil Temp: 275
Temp: 86
Lap Time: 2:26.2

4th Session 3 PM

Minutes: 15
Water Temp: 215
Oil Temp: 275
Temp: 88
Lap Time: 2:26.0

5th Session Sunday 1005 AM

Minutes: 13
Water Temp: 213
Oil Temp: 273
Temp: 82
Lap Time: 2:24.3

While the oil temps are a bit higher than I hoped for I can live with 270's and the water was great.

Thanks for the report - sounds like the car ran great, and you had a good time!!

Is your GS an A8 or M7?

TIA

Joe,
Glad to see you out there again... You had that car moving and shaking Sunday... Should get better in the cooler air, and maybe when you swap over to stickys....

I know a car I could trade you

Thanks Brian. Good to be back and I'm looking forward to tweaking on the car as it drives wonderful. And yes cool air is always welcome.
