Used Scrubs - Slicks - Seller Experience
I've been buying used 18" Pirelli scrub slicks from GT Racing Tires and have generally been satisfied with what they've sent me. Usually running 305/660/18 and 315/680/18.
I haven't bought from usedracingtires.com and was wondering if anybody had input to offer. Same as GT Racing, better, coin toss or ???
Posted pricing is the same from both seller.
Anyone else I should consider?
TIA
Rick

I've bought from both and have been happy with both. The last 2 sets I bought from GT Racing had a lot of pickup rubber which needed a few sessions to get completely off. The ones from Used Racing Tires had minimal pickup. Could just be luck of the draw though..either is pretty good choice. Also heard some good things about JB Racing Tires. Best of luck!

I get my R7's from John too.
Even with claimed "no more than two heat cycle" and visually confirming a clean rubber, I get no more than two to two and a half days of the fronts! Gotta figure something else out!

Regarding options, you really have none other than scrubs. You can use something like NT01s which last significantly longer but they're relatively slow. In the grand scheme of things the scrubs are a bargain at $500/set. Especially when you consider stickers are about $2,300.
High HP, heavy cars are expensive to track. Not so much with a momentum car like a Miata or SRF.

A friend of mine with a Viper was carrying the same mid corner speed as I was. He was on Toyos and I was on my R7's scrubs, nearing their end of life. I'm actually thinking of trying R888R's next season. Nitto and Toyos are the same company, except R888R is "possibly" years ahead of NT01's.
I've got a lot of experience with NT01 on my FRS. The difference imo between NT01 and R7's is with NT01 going hot into a corner, you have to keep adjusting your steering while with R7's you mostly hold the steering steady.
My friend with a Viper gets a lot more days on his old R888's while there's only a couple of seconds of difference between our laps.
