SS or CAM-S for a C7 Grand Sport?
Hello all!
I picked up a C7 Grand Sport about 3 months ago and have done 5 events with the car. What an amazing car to drive! Although the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are definitely holding it back. So I’m stuck with one of two decisions to make for next season:
1. Stay in SS and run 19x10 fronts and 19x12 rears and run 305 square Bridgestone RE71.
2. Move to CAM-S and run 18x10 or 18x11 fronts and 18x12 rears and run 275 or 315 front and 335 rear BFGoodrich Rival S.
The tire choices in CAM-S have more variety than the one tire choice in SS. However, I don’t plan to modify the car other than wheels and tires. Would a stock C7 GS be able to hang in CAM-S? Or should I just stay in SS? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply man! Yes they did very well in CAM-S. Grand Sports didn’t do too hot in SS this year at Nats.
So I think I’ve made the decision to give CAM-S a whirl next season.
I’d love to be able to run the 315 Rival S in the front. Can anyone chime in on a correct offset 18” Forgestar CF5 that will fit a 315 without rubbing in the front?
Also, with the increased front grip, will it be necessary to upgrade to a larger front sway bar? Thanks.

With all the rain, standing water and other drama, this years national for SS is a tough to judge. LAST year, C7 GS did pretty well. IIRC, there were a few C7s in top 10 (one in 4th position too). I have the 19x10 (oem z06 front) and 19x12 Replica wheels with 305 re-71r. I think a thick FSB may help with the lack of rear traction. I don't think car is competitive in SS with that setup local or smaller lot autox. In bigger lincoln/toledo type courses, I think it'll do ok with proper driver. Car is awesome in SSR but that involves tire trailer/trailer and swapping tires twice in hot 95 degree weather.
Let us know what you end up going. Does Forgestar sell the 19x10 and 19x12 for SS class with CORRECT offset? I think I saw Brian Peter rocking some Forgestars.

I have a 18x11 Forgestar F14 with a 315/30 on the front of my car. As far as offset I don't know since I feel its up to the wheel vendor to ensure it fits, not me. It does work really well though and I'm happy with the set up.

Hey all. I ended up making the choice to run in CAM-S. I was emailing Sam Strano and he is saying the way the eLSD behaves with the smaller 305 rear tire is not good.
I ordered 18x11 +35 front and 18x12 +50 rear Forgestar CF5 from Jason at GetYourWheels. I will be running 315/30 front and 335/30 rear BFGoodrich Rival S.
Metalgear, to answer your question above yes Forgestar can make a set of F14 or CF5 that will fit. ProPartsUSA has a set of Forgestar CF5 that are specific for SS and SSR use.
Can anyone recommend a good brake pad to use for this car? I am considering using Carbotech AX6. But are there any other recommendations?
Thanks y’all
