Race Seats for C5

Race Seats for C5
I know this topic has been discussed before but want to see if there is anything recent that has changed. My 04 Z seats are terrible for aggressive driving. Knees are sore after a 20 minute session. I want to get something more aggressive that won't let me slide. The car is primarily street driven but I am 40 minutes from Deals Gap and spend a lot of time up there. Couple track days and autox a year as well. I know the A4 is commonly recommended and I guess if that's the only/best option I will go with that. I want to retain stock belts if at all possible. I am a slim guy and like a tight fit.
Any suggestions.

Corbeau Evo X are much better made, looking, and solid feeling than A4s in my experience.
Though the Evo X is pretty roomy. If you are a smaller guy you might slide around more than wanted.
Good luck!

I have an 03' ZO6 and just put some Sparco Evo IIs in it. Used AMT seat rails, Brey-Krause harness bar and Sabelt belts. Except for the belts, I got everything from AMT. I'm amazed at the difference. The side bolsters are in the way to get in and out, sort of, but if you tilt the steering wheel up, it's not bad. I'm on the slim side as well and these seats are the bomb. They stay put and are comfortable. I originally was interested in the new Recaro Speeds, but I haven't found where there are any to be had. I'm just as pleased with what I have and I know the reputation of all of the equipment.
Maybe I'll see you at the Gap.

If you're slim I would go with a Sparco Evo over the Evo II. They're narrower and fit nicely. will probably be a tight fit against the trans tunnel but it fits. I'm 6'1" 190lbs and I love the fit of an EVO.

Can you run stock belts with Sparco? I am really trying to avoid harness's.
I have plans to move into a C6Z next year so don't want to drop a ton of money on parts I can't reuse in a C6

If you're looking for a cheap alternative. I have a set of these that help side movement. Not like a race seat but definitely help. I have a set I don't need any more because I did buy some race seats. Let me know if you're interested.

Essentially removing a stock seat is somewhat compromising the vehicles intended safety system. Its more important in modern cars with explosive pretensioners than it is in older cars but still applicable.

Hey guys, on the topic of retaining 3 pt belts for street use with fixed back seats, how are you routing the belt receiver through the harness lap belt hole?
When I do that the receiver protrudes almost horizontally through the slot (this is in a C6Z so the receiver has a pretensioner and steel cable inside; not just the typical woven seatbelt material).

Hey anth115, any pictures? I just want to know exactly what we're looking at. I'm familiar with the belts on C5s and C7s have never torn down the seat of a C6z.
