Default Competition Mode Problem !!!!!!!

So this has happened a couple of times before. But at yesterdays AutoX my car would drop out of Competition Mode and I could see the traction control Icon on the dash display. This is a 2006 C6 Z06. In the past when this has happened I needed to drive straight and "AH Recalibrating" message would occur or I needed to turn off motor and restart. I think this is dependent on the course layout but yesterday several of my runs were ruined with one having me sliding backwards across half the track, completely out of control. I think AH is staying on and traction control is going off, but maybe its going to all nannies off........I don't know but I don't like it.

I know I could avoid this by running with all nannies off but I like and know how to drive in Comp Mode and am quite competitive in that mode.

So the question is .................. What is causing this? Is there a fix? Or is something that is going to continue to be an intermittent problem ?????

Here is video from yesterday to see the track layout. I was not videoing when I lost control.........

Didn't those kinds of faults happen when the steering sensor was going bad?

Did you see any service messages on the DIC? If there is something like a steering sensor fault AH is totally shut down for that ignition cycle. On a C6 traction control will still work properly and can still be turned off in a failed steering sensor scenario. However, you would see a Service AH message on the DIC. If the sensor failed intermittently while the car was running in Comp Mode I think TC would not be turned back on but you would lose AH.

There were no messages that I saw (but they may have been there as I was concentrating on the track/driving). I only know that I suddenly lost control. Then when the run was over the traction control icon was lit on the dash and I was no longer in Comp mode. There was one or two times that I could hear the chime sound it switched back to comp mode new the end of the run.
So you think I was in "no nanny" mode during the failure?

The SWPS is on the steering column, under the dash. Can't see a cone getting there.

Sounds as though it is high time to have someone that has a tech2 and knows how to use it take a look at your car.

Howard, If you need a tech II I have one. I just changed the position sensor last week. It was the old bearing pushed it out issue.

A TPMS sensor blinking out will cause this. It happened on my C6.

I have a brand new set of OEM's on the wheels and no problem programing them or misreading of pressure.
