Default G-LOC r6 for light road racing?

I was looking for some insight on the G-LOC R6 brake pads to see if any of you are using them in road racing? I see time trials 2 or 3 times a year at most and it rides on the street rest of the time. The road racing I see is about 3 or 4 sessions, twenty minute sessions each. I'm looking for a pad that is just a step up from OEM to reduce some fade and increase stopping distance by a tad. I don't see the need for R10 or anything higher cuz I'm not going that fast nor stopping that hard. What do you guys think for some light road racing and being on the street rest of the time?

I would look at the Carbotech XP8 this pad can be driven on the street and tracked with no issue less dust than the AX6 and holds more heat.

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1250°F+ (93°C to 676°C+). Carbotech™ XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. Good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Carbotech™ does NOT recommended XP8™ as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. Carbotech™ XP8™ is a great compound on the front & rear of most open wheel and sports racers.

If you're doing time trials, and not using all the brakes or not going fast enough to feel you need to, you're doing it wrong. Buy a track pad and use all of the brakes.

Give them a call and get their input. GLoc has always been happy to take my calls.

How much tire are you running, car full weight, power, and stock brake caliper/rotor/cooling?

Ive gotten away with G8s on a few different cars for track use, even in higher HP under brake equipped cars on 200tw tires. I only tried for a TT style use, not continuous lapping. Other things would cook before the brakes would give up (tires and brake fluid boil). But I found the G8s would be hit and miss on squeal for the street (depended on the car application).

I'm still learning a lot on track.

I was going to say go to R8 but I see Adam previously said that....take his word for it. If you find your times coming down, realize you are getting faster go to R10. Once you change to R-comp tires then you will have to go higher.

I carry G-Loc. R6, not enough. R8, not enough. Minimum R10, maybe R12. And I do this stuff myself, a lot. In fact I'm in a hotel at this moment, in Bowling Green, between two days of SCCA Time Trial Nationals, running my 99% stock C7 GS and I have R12's in my truck, fwiw.

I run in the intermediate groups at NCM, Mid Ohio, Pitt Race, Grattan, Watkins Glenn.
2001 Z06, Slightly modified with Heads, Headers, Fast intake, Cam. 425 rwhp / 390 rwtq
I've run Carbotech XP10/XP8 for 3 years and Love them for several reasons:
1) the dust does not damage wheel paint line some metallic pads.
2) Never ever had fade in up to 30 min sessions (with high temp fluid)
3) 140 mph to 60 mph in 300 feet! (with 315 square NT01's)

I run them on the street with a bit of squeal, But my street time is very limited. Stopping on cold pads is efficient and effortless, just a bit noisy.
I have a set of Carbotech 1521 street pads but I don't take the time to swap the out.

Any Carbotech/GLoc pad besides 1521 will eventually become incredibly noisy on the street without regular hard use as the pads wear off the transfer layer at cold temps. They need to get up to full temp regularly to maintain the transfer layer. I would recommend Ferodo DS2500 for what you are looking for as the pad material does not mind cold use, and it is an upgrade over OE. Plus with the Ferodos you can switch to DS 1.11 for aggressive track only use if you overheat the Ds2500s and they are transfer layer compatible.
