Trailer hitch for z06?
Ok I am thinking about putting a trailer hitch on my z06 .. to tow small trailer with tires.
Saw one at autox, but didn't get a chance to look under. Any experience with this? Can anyone send me a pic of the installation, and where to get the hitch?
I was thinking that it would be cool to mount a hitch that would fit under my z06 exhaust plate, and then make the plate so it was hinged and would move up when connecting the trailer. Didn't look to see if feasible but just a thought.
thanks

I use a hitch from Dalan in Boston 978-425-9585. It fits up under the fascia and only the receiver shows. Hitch, ball and wiring harness was about $160 shipped. Very good quality and not too hard to install. I tow a small trailer with tires, tools and jack. Check out pic below.

I am looking for a hitch and trailer set-up as well. Try http://www.hitch-web.com
There are two manufactuers of hitches for c5's that I could find and you can look at the installation instructions for both.
Anyone have tips on setting up a small trailer?

Got my hitch from Da'Lan as well. Good folks, good product.
As for the trailer, Northern Hydraulic sells a great little trailer for $199.00. You have to assemble and provide your own flooring. When I got done with my whole rig (hitch, trailer, 3/4" plywood flooring, Spare wheel/tire for trailer ($50! ouch!), Tuff Box for tools, and hardware for mounting tires, I had about $500-$550 in it.
It makes a great setup. Here's a couple of pics of what I had (have since sold it - got poor) and will do again when I get up the cash.
Hope this helps!

I have put several thousand miles on my Draw-Tite hitch and cheapo Harbor Freight trailer. Something you need to worry about is the hitch clearing aftermarket exhausts. This setup works OK with stock, Corsa Touring, and Corsa Ti exhausts in my experience.

It works good with Pacers too - the guy I sold mine to had to swap from his big tips (4) to Pacers to allow clearance.
It sounded good and looked good :D

I have the Dalan hitch and Harbor Freight trailer too. I did have a little trouble getting the hitch clear my Corsa Indys, but a slight adjustment solved the problem. Instead of ordering the spare at $50 I ordered the wheel and tire as a replacement part and got it for about $20.00.
Also, make sure you get the trailer with the 12" wheels. They also sell one with 8" which you don't want. I have mine set-up pretty much like the one pictured above. At SCCA Nationals I saw a lot of the small trailers with all levels of customization. Everything from being widened to having custom racks and wheel trays installed. They were pretty cool. But, I get by fine with my simple set-up. I've taken long trips - 500 to 600 miles each way - and at high speeds with no problems.

Tim,
found another link for a trailer that looks pretty nice. This one appears to be slightly larger than the Harbor frieght trailer and looks pretty sturdy. http://www.sportutilitytrailers.com/LongChih/745TC.htm

thanks for the info! Thinking about just getting a full size trailer and pulling the car.
Amazing they can make a trailer in taiwan, ship it over here, sell it for $279 and make a profit!
