Default adjustable rear spring

Does anyone have experience with the adjustable rear spring (1984-96 part number 42601) by VBP that can change spring rates up to 50 lbs/in?

I have one, but have not installed it. Are you having problems with one?

I have a 1990 ZR1 that I take to various road courses. My car is very fast, but I was considering a coil spring set-up with revalved shocks that I would only put on for track events. One option is coils all around. The other option is coils on the front with the adjustable rear spring from VPB. The up side to the adjustable rear leaf is less work for track preperation. The down side is I wouldn't have re-valved rear shocks. If I did buy an extra set of rear re-valed shocks, it would make more sense to go with the rear coils.
When do you plan on installing the rear spring? What spring do you have at the front and why are you going to use the VPB spring? After istallation, I would like input on your opinion regarding the results.

Mike,

I just upgraded to the front VBP sport spring and am testing it out with the FE1 rear spring. Seems like a good setup for autox's, but I only have one autox under my belt. I'll be tracking the car later this month and will see how that works out. I plan on installing the adjustable rear VBP spring sometime this spring and see what it does for handling.

My only concern with the adjustable rear spring is the whole adjusting mechanism, ie more stuff to go wrong. There are a lot of clamps, nuts and bolts and that huge bar, I may just get the sport rear spring (non-adjustable) if I like what the adjustable feels like.

Seems like you have a whole lot of testing to do on your part! Mixing coilovers and transverse springs, I never thought of that one. Do you know of someone that has already done that?

As of now, I have decided to go with the coils all around. Since the coilovers are easy enough to change for track use, I will go for two sets. 400lb/275lb for the street and 500lb/325lb with revalved shocks for the track. Using the adjustable rear spring is less track preperation, but the down side is that I wouldn't have revalved shocks for the rear. If I go with an extra revalved shock for the rear, I should just go coils at the rear. Since I change tires and brake pads for track use, the extra effort to change coilovers won't bother me. I refuse to give up my quality street ride with my 1990 ZR1 / FX-3 shock system. I would still like to now how the adjustable spring works out for you.
