Default Alignment Question

How often do you have to have the alignment checked. I autocross 2-3 times a month and last had it done in July.

Also, lowering question. My car is lowered about 1"(done just before the alignment job). This was done just the normal method of turning the bolts. Is there any special technique to make sure it is set up correctly, and not effecting the handling adversly. Also, I have penske 16pt adjustable racing shocks. Another manufacturers rep said he thinks I might be bottoming out on the shocks because the car is lowered and that is constributing to understeer.

From what I understand if you were running the stock shocks you would be OK with a 1 inch drop. However, that is about the max you can drop the Z51 suspension before you start getting into the bump stops that are inside the shock. If you want to go lower then you have to trim those stops so you do not bottom out. The Penske shocks are considerably different and you may have to call them to find out how much you can drop. I recently competed against a Z06 with those shocks. The car was lowered, had Hoosiers on 18 inch wheels all the way around and did not have any real handling problems since he blew away the next fastest car (me) by 5 seconds.
