Hey Kevin, don't you think that the change is probably 90% financial and 10% technical? And, benefits both Michelin (more racing exposure) and GM (an attractive sponsorship package from Michelin).
Jim the Michelins are more developed than the Goodyears they have a different compound for every 10 degrees of track temp. This deal will make them more competitive. :chevy

Too bad for Goodyear but :thumbs: for the C5R program.
Every single ALMS race the announcers would say several times about the advantage the Michelin tires had with double stinting while the Goodyears had to be changed at every stop. Costly at ALM where you can't begin changing tires until the refueling has finished...
