Bell and Simpson make some of the lightest helmets, As for Bell, the difference between a Carbon Dominator and a Kevlar say GTX is about 5 oz. in weight difference. Around a pound or more for a fiberglass. almost all the simpsons are made of same stuff. Your real impact protection is in the liner This is what absorbs the impact or impacts in the case of an SA helmet in a car. Your shell provides the penatration resistance.
If you are worried about the neck strain, wear a good neck brace that is thick enough to support the helmet. A HANS does not support the helmet, simply restrains movement in an accident.
I am a dealer and I too wear a Bieffe helmet, The importer it seams has gone under and so to has hopes of getting helmets. to replace it I am thinking I will go with a Bell GTX or Dominator because I feel they are the best helmets for my situation.
