Default Kuhmo Victoracer or Ecsta 700

I have been AutoXing my '89 coupe for about 2 years, I have been using the Victoracers with good success. I can pick up 4 Kuhmo Ecsta 700 for $150. I'm curious how different this would feel than what I am currently using. Given the price for a set of Kuhmo's with about 8-10 runs on them, seems like a good move.

Any experiance with these Ecsta 700 tires?

Only reason I'm curious is that I am in a tight points race and if people have not had success with these on C4 vettes I might stay away from them and pay a bit more for the consistant perforamcne I have been getting from the Vicotracer.

I agree the proce is right.

Victo's tend to help a car turn better and Ecta's are better at putting the power down. Soooo with all victo's you may have experienced some power oversteer by going with all Ecta's you might experience some push. A good combo is Vico's in front and ecta's in rear.
Best of both worlds.

Cheers

If you are talking about the boy in atlanta that is selling those, they are 275's pretty small tire to go on all 4 corners. I was considering them for the fronts. If you want to go fast get a new set of V710's.

I agree with Aggie Corvette on the combo. Personally I wouldn't use the Ecsta on the front - on my 96 they chunked pretty bad on the outer edge after only about 10-12 runs, and didn't give as crisp a turn-in as the V700 even when new. Most autox'ers around Dallas who run heavier/higher HP cars that tried the Ecsta's went back to VictoRacers.

Default Au contraire

Contrary to the last few posts, I had great sucess with Estca V700's on the 96 LT4 that I ran in 02 and '03. I put them on at the beginning of '03. In addition to earning second place in points in A/S last year, they were run at three DE's (Mid Ohio and Putnam park), accumulating over 700 track miles in addition to roughly 75 AX passes.

As an aside (at full tread) they were simply awsome in wet traction on a road course. They were finally retired by the car's current current owner this year primarily due to having been heat cycled to death... BTW, they still had tread! If the ones at $150 are big enough and aren't over a year old, I'd be all over them!
