Default Bloomington Expectations

I know the sale of cars both private and dealer is really tough now. The word is that Terry and Fred Michaelis (Proteam) are bringing 43 cars to Bloomington to auction off. If they sell it will really put a lot of cars out there and make selling a car even harder. If Proteam is in that much difficulty what does it say about the rest of the market?

ProTeam always has a lot of cars for sale, and it doesn't seem to have affected the market so far. Their asking prices are usually pretty high. I believe they're active in many big auctions across the country.

But are they there to sell the cars or to protect there floorplan's value?

I think they are there to sell. That is almost 1/3 of their inventory and the banks are on them as you said Tom I believe most are floor planned. They like most other dealers are not selling anything either. They have always bought many cars at Bloomington, but not put up this kind of number for sale.

Maybe they are going to have a fire sale - literally.

The big trailers are a fire hazard.

Besides selling cars, they will be buying cars also. You can believe that they don't pay what you and I would pay to sell a car or if they buy a car.

with the cost of fuel, they will pay through the nose to transfer vehicles both directions if they dont meet reserve.

I noticed on their website last night they have two very nice looking Big Block 66's for 69K, which I thought was a good price.

Very true, but you think a company like them would also need to protect their reputation by being slightly more honest than the next guy.

I will guess 25% less than the retail price. I think that there will be some deals next week. There will be some nice cars at the auction next week but one must know the difference between the nice and not so nice ones.

The cars for sale are out of their general inventory. They are not from a "special collection". They happen to be selling one that belonged to me last year. They were hung in many of these `67`s last year at Carlisle. The market shift caught them as well

I have to agree with the last post. We haven't had a good PT thread in a while. I am trying to figure out what I have learned from all these threads ( including the gloom and doom midyear price threads) which seem to talk in circles about one thing or another. This month it's midyear prices and PT. Sooner or later one member becomes tee'd off by someone's post & away we go.... I obviously have nothing better to do or I wouldn't be typing in my two cents either.

As a supplier of steering wheels I am expecting that sales will be off quite a bit. I believe that the cost of gas and the economy in general, will impact the "gate" revenue.
