Man, that is one beautiful car!
I started this thread several years ago when my Dad died and my sister was going to sell the '58 Vette he bought new off the showroom. (She had it promised to her before I learned how to talk!) This was during hard economic times. Members of the forum seemed to be throwing out 25-37,500 and I had it appraised by our local authority. He said about 11-12,000, but he knew the appraisal was for my benefit.
Not wanting to live with shorting my sister, I paid 35,000. This may have been too much, but it was worth it to me. I do not know what has gone on with the cars since. Many people have said my car is great because it is genuine, but not so refined that it can't be driven just for fun.
I would love to have it in the shape of your Dad's car, but I guess it would take 30-35,000 to get it there.
I hope you get some responses, It would be great to know what a finished restoration like yours would bring.

Looks like the bid goes on at 60k. I think that was a fair offer but there was a commission also. What's the seller asking?

Hope you don't mind me bringing up an old dead thread, but I'm trying to help out my dad in valuing a 1958 Vette and I happened to come across this thread. I'm a regular over on the Camaro forums and figured I'd branch out a bit in hopes he might be able to get a good read on this gorgeous Monterrey Red 58' vette. If there's anyone out there who has good knowledge of how to value one of these guys, I'd GREATLY appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Doug

If you determine an asking price and want to sell it here on the forum, have your Dad get an account and then open a For Sale thread in the Cars For Sale area with the asking price. Good luck.
