Noob here, trying to learn to hopefully own a 63 coupe someday. Does the vin plate next to the trim tag not being spot welded also a red flag? Or is this normal for 67s?

Trim Tag is for an AO Smith Body, if this car was a legit 427 car it would have a St Louis body. another scenario is that the car was not a black car originally and a trim tag from another car was swapped onto it. either way the car appears not to be an original black 427 car.

Default 67

I agree with you all on the tag and it not being a B/B.

So knowing those items what would you say would be a realistic value for the car? I know it is no where near what it is bided to.

I would not kick it in the shins until for certain it is AO Smith body. Still, is it worth the sum of its parts? Sure, but that leads us to casting numbers and dates on the block and heads and so on.

Agree this is not a big block car for all the reasons stated previously. What about the trim tag itself ? Hard to tell from that picture but..... I'm not hating it. Rivets hard to tell from the picture also. But assuming original rivets and trim tag this could be an original black car...if so there has to be some value in that ? Sell the motor that's in there now and put an L79 in it. A real 67 black car with an L79 NOM sounds like a nice ride.

I'm selling this car for my friends wife. He passed away about 8 years ago.
I couldn't get a complete shot of the tag with my camera.
I did with my phone camera.
Its not a real 67 Big Block . I know.
It is a real Black/Black Coupe

You say it is a real black/black car has the trim tag ever been authenticated?

The trim tag and vin tag were authenticated by a NCRS Master Judge.
They have never been touch. Original rivets are on them.

than isn't the ad a little misleading?? per the ad:

"*** STATEMENT: The VIN Tag and Engine Stamping Match. ***

We DO NOT HAVE DOCUMENTATION to verified if its a Real Numbers Car or Not. If its a restamped block the quality is excellent. Other numbers are correct for a BB 427/435 HP Corvette. We are selling the car as a Period Correct 1967 BB Corvette Stingray Coupe."

After finding more information about the Corvette I have stated it is a restamped engine. Not a original Big Block car.

I know I should have this information before selling the car, but as I was research information to buyer I came across more information about the history of the car.
Sorry it came late, but I'm be truthful about the car.

You know, back in the day, people built whatever type of car they wanted, if they couldn't find one to buy. You have a Corvette body and wanted a big block Corvette? There were lots of 396s around. In the '70s, 454s became abundent and so there were many big block Corvettes with 454s.

Nobody complained and screamed "fake!" about them.

Wild customs went out of vogue and the original look came in, so cars became original-looking. Corvette air cleaners, correct valve covers, correct decals, and so on.

Nobody complained and screamed "fake!" about them.

Tribute cars became a thing to do. How many 1969 Camaros became Z28 Camaros? How many Corvettes became 435 hp '67 Corvettes?

Nobody complained and screamed "fake!" about them.

The problem has always been the fraud. Yes, fraud. Take a car, build it as something special or valuable, and then sell it as the real thing.

Yes, complain about that.

But why complain about this guy? He states they are not selling it as an original but as a period correct car. He is selling it for a deceased friend's wife. The guy who died 8 years ago is the one who knows if he faked it or not. Maybe he didn't care if it was fake. It runs like a real one. It looks like a real one. It acts like a real one. It was what he wanted.
