SOLD! 60 Vert 4 Speed Original Paint Unmolested
SOLD. Thank you for the support from all Forum members.
Note: I have received Administrative Approval to sell the car for the owners (very close friends of mine)
Hello,
Selling this car for a retired couple (the husband is a former Squadron CO of mine). Please call me (Jim). Mobile (240) 299-7576. Email: jsannysr@gmail.com for more pics.
$50K OBO
VIN: 00867S101701
Original paint car. 4 speed. Unmolested. Two owner car. No rust through. Frame is solid. Spent most of it’s life in FL. Born 12 DEC 1959 (according to CF Birthday Calculator).
The car starts right up; fast idles ; heat choke works as advertised; drijjves nice.
The wife of the retired couple received the Vette from her Dad upon his death. Her Dad was a Brigadier General (BG) in the USAF. Bomber and fighter pilot in WWII and Korean war. The General was the second owner from what I can tell from the archives the wife has. The BG one star is still on the front bumper. I restored (ground up; not body off) the car for them about three years ago. They have logged about 2000 miles since then driving to and from the golf course on sunny days. The car has 105K miles on the odometer. Lots of patina on the car. I received invaluable restoration assistance from this forum that I truly appreciate.
The car received a complete drive train resto including engine, transmission, driveshaft, exhaust system. Wheel bearings, tie rod ends, shocks, etc. replaced. 4 speed tranny is not the original unit that was installed at factory; had a 67 tranny installed, but I found a DEC 1959 date coded original Corvette tranny to match the build date of the car and she is totally rebuilt and shifts fine.
Every nut, bolt, and washer removed and all parts that were restored were media blasted with aluminum oxide; treated with PPG Metal Prep acid; rinsed and coated with PPG Metal Prep Phosphate (to prevent corrosion), rinsed and dry air dried, then the proper coating was applied. The compressor I own is an industrial Ingersol Rand unit with an HVAC system producing 100% dry air out the media blast gun; thus the parts restored by me, will not rust for a very long time...storage climate dependent.
All four brakes restored. New exhaust system. Original wheels restored. New period correct tires from Coker Tire Company.
Gas tank replaced. Original fuel line was cleaned inside with muriatic acid.
Convertible frame restored and trued. Windows roll up and down with ease.
Original 283 4 BBL 230 HP Engine completely restored; bored 030. Correct carb restored by Daytona Carbs. Convertible frame painstakingly restored and trued; and new vinyl top and tacks, etc; from Al Knoch El Paso, TX. Passenger head is original; driver head is off a 62 Vette I believe.
Original radiator restored. Original distributor restored by Buffalo Machine Works, Colorado.
Original generator restored. Entire heater ventilation system / box / ducting replaced / restored; works and heats up the cockpit nicely.
All lights and signals work. Car runs and drives very nice.
Chrome in very nice condition; no rust through. Frame is solid; no rust through; a little (not alarming) surface rust on the frame.
Guaranteed original engine, not original transmission ((found a date coded (DEC 1959) Corvette transmission restored and installed)).
Original wheels. New reproduction correct trunk mat. New front and rear brake line hoses. New axle straps.
Radio does not work. Original seat covers and carpet. All turn signals / lights (bright and dim), horn work fine.

See the fourth photo: see the furniture type tacks used by factory assembly workers to attach the vinyl top to the front and rear frame bows; very interesting and amazing! What a cool car.

There is an old fire extinguisher located in the right rear quarter (see photo). I never removed: I let remain to keep the patina and originality. I'm not sure if this is a vintage GM dealer extinguisher or not. The new owner can remove and see.

BG Cruickshank has a VERY impressive BIO. 143 combat missions! He flew the P-38, P-40, and P-51D in WWII and Korea. Well known Test Pilot. During combat he destroyed eight enemy aircraft; shot down twice within 11 days and parachuted to safety and returned to American control by the Chinese Underground!!! Distinguished Flying Cross (2), Air Medal, Purple Heart, Chinese Air Hero Medal; one of the first Army Air Corps pilots to fly a P-40 off a Navy Aircraft carrier for Chinese combat operations...A REAL AMERICAN HERO!!!
Upon bringing the car to my resto shop, while doing inventory I found a plastic container in the trunk. I opened and found a few screws etc., and inside a brown paper bag I found a treasure...a General's flag with a star on it that was flown at his HQ when he was still on active duty. When I delivered the car to his daughter and her husband, I draped the flag over the car before she walked out of her home; when she saw the flag, she broke down with a big happy smile. That was the moment I'll never forget.

Thanks again! The daughter is really connected to her Dad's car and wants the car to go to a good home; I am a former USMC pilot; the daughter's husband is one of my former Squadron COs; so this car has a huge military connection and history. The really cool part of this car, is the fact it is unmolested; no mods except the hub caps.
