'67 L88 Tribute
I am in the market for a BB '67. I once had a '67 Pro Street Roadster that was bright yellow. 21 years ago, it was the victim of starting a family. I actually found it the day I got married. Now, sadly and (happily) both the car and (wife) are gone. I am not in the market for "numbers matching" or originality. I am one of those who believe "factory original" can be improved upon. Besides, I prefer to stay on the budget side of $100k. I can kick myself that I missed out by one week the Sunfire Yellow Roadster that sbaba sold on this forum last month. That car would have been ideal to me as far as color (my other acceptable color is black) and the options it had. Anyhow, westcoastcorvettesales .com has an L88 tribute coupe for sale in Sunfire Yellow for $66k. It is not a roadster, which is OK since I already had one and the coupe has gorgeous lines. Anyway I have a yellow 2014 Z51 convertible (upgraded with Z06 grille, cross flag emblems, taillights and smoked marker lights, headlights, tinted windows, and black tail pipes) that takes care of my top-down needs. My question is, does anybody on the forum know this car and are there any issues with it? Is there anyone that can do a thorough inspection on this car (it's in Anaheim, California). I would gladly pay for the service. I live in Michigan which is a looong way from the West coast, so I would want a real good idea of what I would be getting into before doing my own inspection and pursuing a potential purchase. Thanks in advance everyone!

I've briefly studied that car for fun, not as a serious buyer and not in person. It seems really nice. The big problem I had with it is that the yellow is not Sunfire Yellow, it is some other shade shade of yellow (not correct for a 67) and that's a deal killer for me.
For some reason I recall that the original color may be black.
In my opinion, the color is the reason the car is still for sale.

Thanks sbaba. Any chance the person who bought your roadster has buyer's remorse? I would love to have that car.

I looked at Dr L-88's L88 Tribute yesterday. That is a very nice car and quite interesting that it has the 36 gallon gas tank. Unfortunately, it's a bit over the budget I want to spend. As I stated in my original post, I want to keep it below $100k. To clarify, my priorities are that the car is a driver friendly, affordable car with some horsepower. Coupe or Roadster will work. Must be yellow (and quite honestly, something brighter than Sunfire Yellow is preferable) or black though I would consider silver and certain non-factory colors. Pro touring or pro street would be considerations. I like the factory side pipes and turbine wheels. Interior modifications that would be acceptable are radio upgrade and more modern seats that are tastefully done so as to not look too out of place. I would like the instrumentation to remain at least original looking.
All that being said, I am still quite intrigued by the L88 tribute at westcoastcorvettesales .com. Is there anybody on this forum in the Anaheim area who is qualified to judge this car that is willing to inspect it? Obviously, I am not looking for judgment on originality and "numbers correct" but looking for condition, i.e. mechanical quality and craftsmansip. And of course, I would be willing to pay for a thorough inspection.
