'65 Convertible, VIN 194675S111693 Very Good to Excellent Driver
SOLD!!
Please see change in price on this. Check Page 2 for details.
ho'd a thought! Yup, it's time to turn that page! What a great run of enjoyment this '65 has given us! Almost as important to owning this '5 is the fellowship, instruction, morale support as you dig under her skin to find out you ain't alone in solving/understanding the inner workings of her. Kudoos to the best support net on keeping her on the road! A sincere thank you to you ALL!
Not certain what's on the horizon for us. Leaving that open.
So, to the '5 for sale. I class her as a very good to excellent driver. Older paint (SIKKENS base/clear) in Milano Maroon and reflects the fact that she's driven (nicks, chips, scratches) which I periodically touch up (like a woman standing in a front of a mirror).
Many of you have followed along as I upgraded her to just make her more user friendly.
Owned her since 1981 (37 years...3rd owner). Here's link to the background on her and some upgrades:
https://www.c2registry.org/index.php?job=ShowCorvette&car_id=MOP4wF _wboQq9SDJa9ypl3RY1D34t18QMHO8qlf-Rt8
Should you need additional pictures or you have questions/concerns, please call me at 586-484-8489. My email address is: jim.karam65@gmail.com
Here's a walk around video taken a year and a half ago with the hardtop on. She's got a couple more thousand miles on her since then...right at 86,000 now:
This short video taken in December, 2017 is with the top dropped...was cold but I didn't care :
Here's a view taken this morning of the condition of the undercarriage (apologize for the muffled audio quality):
Craigslist ad: https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/c...621558843.html

Pics of the original motor follow:
111693 FO302HF #s are faint due to decking, but they are there
Closeup of VIN
Back of block
8" balancer
The original motor has less than 7,000 mile on her. When rebuilt it was bored .040, has factory forged crank, factory rods, Sealed Power forged pistons, replaced the stock 300 HP hydraulic camshaft with the '70-'72 LT-1 solid lifter camshaft (which is the same cam in the mule motor in the car now), factory windage tray, factory flywheel, timing cover and 8" balance. Sitting on a roll around, I rotate her periodically, oiling her up as well.

Pics of the original Muncie M20 wide ratio (256:1 1st gear). This transmission has had 1 rebuild under my watch. Comes with Hurst Competition Plus shifter linkage attached.

Such a great car, Jim. You and your car have been one of the mainstays here on the Forum my entire time here. I don't know if you recall but we met in probably 1999 or 2000 at the Pure Stock Muscle Drags when I had my red '71 LT-1 convertible. Good luck to you in the future and GLWTS.

Hi all,
Anticipating questions on if and when the rear of the car had any maintenance,
here's a link I posted to the forum back in 2008 where the whole back of the car was removed, replacing control arms with new from Gary Ramadei (Forum handle GTR1999). Gary, is a master in this area of the car (does diffs and steering boxes too). Because of Gary's workload, I had a local outfit (DTS) do the rebuild of the differential at that time.
KYB gas shocks (sprayed GM Delco grey ) & solid Spicer Joints on drive shaft and half shafts were installed then too.

Nice
I am just curios about the Legend transmission. How do you like it? Any problems? Did it fit in without cutting the tunnel? I had heard they went out of business? Any info appreciated.
Good luck with sale.

Vette5311,
I love it! Truly allows you to trip long distances at freeway speeds without spinning your motor at 3,000+ r's. That benefit and enjoying 21 mpg are the rewards. There was no cutting to the body installing this transmission. It came as a well thought out kit. Keisler, the distributor back in 2012, was just not a good business man.
With a fixed transmission crossmember in place, you will have to move the motor forward which means disconnecting completely. If you're doing that, you might as well just, as most folks here who have put in 5 speed OD transmissions, pull the motor. I have had no problems with her. No gear whine, no clashing shifting. As I broke her in (a couple of 1,000 miles), the shifting got smoother, slicker. I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF transmission fluid. It's critical to not overfill these transmissions, especially the Legend SS700. 3 quarts 3 ounces to 3 quarts 6 ounces is the correct range to use when filling. I've got over 18,000 miles on this transmission.
Regards,
Jim
