Went to the auction and from what I found, most of the mid year corvettes were low quality.
I thought the automobile magazine black with red stinger hood was nice. The Yellow 67 400hp and Blue 66 450hp in the tent with Reisners camaros were beautiful. Does anyone know what those cars went for? They were both NCRS award winners.
Also, was I missing something on that white 64 365 HP car that sold for $45? I thought that was a very nice restoration.
Even the black 65 327/350 hp that sold for $70K was a beautiful restoration, but it had incorrect components, and was not a NCRS car.
I got pictures of all these I might have to post them to get answers.
Did you see the blue 65 with 327/350hp (lot 1269)? It was a nassau blue body off supposedly NCRS judged? Didn't seem to get much interest and went for 45k...just wondering what the overall condition was

I thought that car was rough. Chrome was pitted on the right front bumper, the turn signal arm, the right vent window. Paint was cracked in numerous places. Typical headlight stress cracks. ETC ETC It looked like a nice driver.
did you see that white 64 coupe for sale at the pavillions in scottsdale saturday. guy was asking $25K. l;ooked like a hell of a deal
I went to the pavillion mall, but didnt see the white coupe. There was a guy with a maroon coupe there, it was next to the 70 Chevelle SS. He wanted $75k for the vette, it was not even close to an NCRS car. Restamped block, wrong master cylinder, doors didn't close correctly.
I asked him if he was a dealer, he said he was a doctor, but he had 4 cars at the show.

Any of you guys see the C1 with the LS motor conversion outside of the main tent for $125K. I believe it was Vestri Vetts. This car looked liked a hacked POS. This guy was insane.

Thanks...I was bragging to my wife about how that car will yield 50k+ since we have a very similar L-79 which I am currently restoring. (look how well our "investment" is doing honey!!). I was surprised when it "only " brought in 45k plus the 8%.
that 65 L79 has a Vintage Air system on it (at least the vents are VA and yes, not an OEM A/C car as you said), but they seemed to have used a period-correct compressor to assist in keeping the look original; agree on the casting flaw valve covers, an easy fix the owner should have attended to; as for the p-coated intake, while not an NCRS-spec job it (if Top Flighting the car was the goal of the buyer he would have to source a new intake) but it sure would keep it looking nice and make it easier to clean.
Big BJ prices are a lot about looks, not so much about strict adherence to the NCRS TIM&JG, kinda like Miss America or the gal in the centerfold, those ain't original equipment but they sure look nice just the same . . .
I posted these numbers at CAC but I wanted to hear some more opinions from this site. In review of the B-J auction, I watched most of the 24 hour coverage and have a few thoughts about the mid-year prices:
* With over 300 Chevrolets and 100 Corvettes to sell, the potential for the prices to flatten out did not happen.
* About 42 C2 mid-years were sold with some very strong prices for SB as well as BB.
* The auction day did not matter as big prices were paid in the middle of the week and on Sunday
* Scottsdale will probably be No Reserve Only for the next few years as over 5000 cars competed for 1000 slots. The TV interview with Craig Jackson caught his comment that they sorted the "Reserve" cars from the "No Reserve" cars and chose good cars specifically from the NR pile until they had all 1000 slots.
* You will probably see Reserve cars spill over into other BJ events like Palm Beach. Unfortunately, Hollywood egos (and money) do not venture across the Rockies. The auction results for similar C2 vehicles is about 30%-40% less.
* On the upside, the 2005 Scottsdale C2 values were rock steady:
42 mid years sold for an average of $99.5K (all prices paid include 8% Buyers premium) for a total of $4,179,000
$189K high
$ 45K low
$ 84K median
20 Coupes sold for an average: $100.8K
22 Convertibles sold for an average: $98.3K
21 Small Blocks sold for an average: $ 74.9K
21 Big Blocks sold for an average: $ 124.1K
The average costs to attend and place a car in B-J will range from $12-15K after all commissions, fees, hotels, and airfare are paid based upon my experience this fall.
Just a quick look at Mid-year numbers...what do you all think?

You know something else that sold that was out of this world was that Mercedes Gull wing replica. $240K ish. Here is a pic with that speed vision guy, can't remember his name.
