Default side exhaust

I'm converting my 66 to 2 1/2 manifolds and side pipes. I know the 65 had 2 1/2 manifolds. Did the 65 use a heat riser or do I omit it?
Thanks,
MIKE

Mike,

You will be better off not using the heat riser for use with the sidepipes. Trust me, been there, done that, as they say

Bob

Depends... If you are using original style pipes from GM or original reproductions yes.. Do you need the damper though? I mean do you have the heat riser set up properly currently? If not why have it in the loop if you need the spacer I'll send you a FI spacer that I bough when I did mine and didn't need it. I bought Allens 2 1/2 Pipes this fall but with the Allen's pipes you don't need a spacer they fit without it... Dave..

Oh yea they are loud. I like them at idle and at anything but 1k to 2k the over/under is great it just sounds a little off to me when I putt out of the neighborhood... She sounds mean with them. You will not require the spacer or the riser with the Allen's exhaust. Unfortunately I do not know who make's Corvette Central's pipes. Mine are 2 1/2 SS exhaust I don't know if the SS makes a difference but yep they be LOUD.... Dave..
