Default Remove convertible top?

I'm going to be replacing the carpeting & some wiring harnesses on my '64. I'm wondering if removing the top completely would be worth the effort, or is it difficult to reinstall & realign? Thanks

Gary

I did it once many yrs ago and I don't recall it being a problem to get back in, just mark it before you take it out.

Default Top Removal

Although it may be easier to install the carpeting with the top removed, carpet installation is not hampered much by leaving the top in place. Put the top down when installing carpet in the front and flip up the back of the top when installing the carpet in the back. I've done a couple of them that way and there didn't seem to be any problems that would necessitate top removal. I the top fits well now, don't remove it. IMO, removing and installing the top would create more work than it would save.

I remove mine every winter when the hard top goes on. I scribed a line around the mounting plates before removing the soft top and it goes back on and fits/works well every year.

C2 tops are relatively easy to R&I and get back in adjustment. C1 tops, on the other hand, are best left alone if they fit properly.
